Depression does not always look like sadness.
In many cultures, depression is often misunderstood, minimized, or expressed differently. Some people may never say, “I’m depressed.” Instead, they may complain of constant fatigue, headaches, irritability, or feeling overwhelmed.
Know the signs. If you or someone you love has been feeling this way for a few weeks, it may be time to talk to someone. While I mention 3-4 weeks in this clip, if it’s been more than 2 weeks and your ability to function is being significantly impact, don’t wait! Reach out sooner.
An inability to perform activities of daily living is not laziness. It can be a sign that someone is carrying a level of emotional pain that has become difficult to manage alone.
Depression is not a character flaw, a lack of faith, or a sign of weakness. It is a real mental health condition that deserves compassion, understanding, and support.
If this resonates with you or someone you love, know that help is available at Elra Wellness Group. We are here to support you.

According to the research of John Gottman, one facial expression stood out as the strongest predictor of relationship distress and divorce: contempt.
Contempt can show up as eye-rolling, sneering, mockery, sarcasm, or communicating a sense of superiority toward your partner. While conflict is normal in relationships, contempt sends the message, "I'm better than you," and can slowly erode trust, respect, and emotional safety.
Swipe through to learn why contempt is so damaging, what it looks like in everyday interactions, and how couples can begin replacing it with healthier patterns of connection.

Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month invites a different kind of conversation that moves beyond “be strong” and into “be honest.”
The “radical homework” I’d give many men in therapy is about expanding you. Learning to notice what you feel instead of bypassing it. Naming what you need instead of minimizing it. Letting yourself be seen without performing strength.
Swipe through for practices that may challenge old definitions of masculinity but open the door to deeper connection, self-respect, and emotional freedom.

If you were my couples therapy client, some of the homework I assign might seem radical. Not because it's complicated, but because it asks you to do the opposite of what disconnection teaches you to do.
When couples are struggling, the solution is rarely found in winning arguments, proving points, or waiting for your partner to change first. It's often found in small, intentional acts of curiosity, appreciation, repair, and connection.
Swipe through for a few "radical" assignments that can help couples interrupt patterns of resentment, distance, and disconnection and begin rebuilding emotional safety and trust.
And come back next week as we explore why ***contempt*** is considered the #1 predictor of divorce in relationship research.

Faith addresses the soul. Therapy addresses the mind. You need both.
At Elra, we follow the client’s lead. If faith is central to who they are, it becomes central to how we work. Their values. Their language. Their framework.
Therapy doesn’t have to strip away what makes you, you. It should work within it, honoring the beliefs and principles that shape your life.
Healing is not about choosing between faith and therapy. The healthiest path is embracing both.
