Mr. Marco Luna our Electromechanical Technician completes assembly of a modified HJ-1 plasma gun which will fire blobs of magnetized fuel target into the Plasma Liner Experiment at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

“What’s unique about NearStar is that everything we need to build the fusion power plant already exists on planet Earth,” Singh said. “So, in a lot of ways, we’re kind of like the Wright brothers — we shouldn’t be the first to flight, but we think we will be because our design and our architecture are so much more simple.”

Chantilly startup NearStar is developing a new form of energy tech - Technical.ly "We're kind of like the Wright brothers," CEO Amit Singh said. The two-year-old company uses plasma railguns technology to create fusion energy.

Welcome our new intern, Rohan Alemblaseril, a senior from Langley High School in Virginia! Next year Rohan plans to major in aerospace engineering and minor in nuclear engineering. He is fascinated by the potential energy has for meeting the energy needs for the entire planet!

Re-powering the planet with fusion energy is going to take time and require armies of scientists, engineers and technicians. Getting young people interested and enthusiastic about being a part of the fusion energy work force means you got to get them involved as early as possible!

At the very first awards ceremony for the Fairfax County Government Fairfax Founders Fund Grant with Fairfax Board of Supervisor John Foust. Thanks again Fairfax County Economic Development Authority for supporting our work in the development of clean always-on fusion energy for the planet.

NearStar Fusion Inc. Awarded National Science Foundation Grant

NearStar Fusion Inc. https://www.nearstarfusion.com was awarded a Phase I SBIR grant on August 25, 2023 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) https://www.nsf.gov to support the development of its unique approach to fusion energy.

NearStar Fusion Founder and Chief Scientist, Dr. F. Douglas Witherspoon stated "This grant will support our efforts to model and analyze our highly modular approach to fusion using repetitive hypervelocity impact of DD fuel targets for grid based electric power."

NSF promotes the progress of science by investing in research to expand knowledge in science, engineering and education. NSF also invests in actions that increase the capacity of the U.S. to conduct and exploit such research.

Amit Singh (NearStar Fusion CEO) commented "We are grateful for NSF's vision and leadership in promoting new alternative approaches to achieving commercially viable fusion. We see NearStar Fusion's deuterium fueled impact fusion approach, which avoids the need for tritium or superconducting materials, as a rapid pathway forward to practical fusion energy.
