this week’s cake slice box features a new flavor: dark chocolate pumpkin porter 🖤🎃

it gets its name from its decadent chocolate fudge buttercream frosting and the flavor profile of ‘s imperial pumpkin porter. this beer is dark, roasty, and drinking it feels like you’ve propped your feet up with a warm cup of coffee and a slice of pumpkin pie.

this persian love cake gets its name from a folk tale about a young woman who bakes a very special dessert for the man she loves in order to make him return her affection… what better way to reach the heart than through the stomach?

delicate, moist sponge flavored with almond, orange, and cardamom, covered with a sweet rose water glaze, and topped with slivers of candied ginger, toasted pistachio, orange zest, and rose buds… this cake is fragrant, light, and truly enchanting. the perfect dessert for an afternoon tea!

did you know beeswax has the highest burning point of any wax? this results in a candle with a longer burn time. beeswax candles also produce less soot, and actually work to purify the air as they are burning because they release negative ions which trap positively-charged toxins. personally i am not a fan of heavily-fragranced candles, so i must share that the smell of these is divine: subtle, natural, with the faintest bit of honey.

buttermilk hibiscus cake ✨

moist, tangy citrus and hibiscus cake layered with bright lemon and hibiscus buttercream frosting, and topped with edible flowers 🌺

fresh hibiscus has quite a distinct flavor: tart and floral, slightly sour, and almost fruity — reminiscent of a pomegranate. pairing lemons and hibiscus together in a dessert results in a perfect balance of sweet and sour. and look at that color! 😍

robin’s egg cake ✨

velvety lemon cake layered with blueberry jam and covered with vanilla buttercream frosting. chocolate speckles decorate the outside of the cake, and a nest of toasted coconut and chocolate egg candies rests on top. simple, fresh, and delicious — perfect for spring!

currently brainstorming new cake flavors for spring, and i can’t help but reflect on my growth as a baker this year. it only feels appropriate with valentine’s day approaching that i say thank you to everyone who has shown my business some love these past five months. i’m so grateful and i can’t wait to show you what i’ve been working on 💝☺️

i know that it is easy for me, a baker about to share the goods she has to sell to commemorate the holiday, to claim that valentine's day has an undeserved reputation. but did you know its commercialization with candy and hearts and flowers only came about in the late 1800s after the postal service started refusing to deliver the lewd postcards people would send to each other... true story!

so, in true spirit of the holiday, i am baking and offering up a variety treat box:
