ILSA Elections will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 @ 12.30 pm in room 307. This is ILSA's last general meeting for the semester, mandatory for members. Emails regarding positions available will be distributed the week preceding the elections meeting.
ILSA and Environmental Law Society will jointly present a short screening of "TOTAL DENIAL", a dramatic and moving documentary which chronicles the groundbreaking human rights lawsuit, Doe v. Unocal, brought by EarthRights International and villagers from Burma against oil giant Unocal (Unocal merged with Chevron in 2005).
Short screening will be followed by interactive discussion of the movie, as well as of opportunities for law students at EarthRights International, which litigates in U.S. courts on behalf of people around the world whose earth rights have been violated by governments and transnational corporations.
Come join us on Monday, April 16th, 12.30-1.30 p.m., Room 307. Food will be served.
"Kony 2012" has been followed by the International Criminal Court's first conviction: of Congolese warlord Thomas Lubanga also for the use of child soldiers.
ILSA will have a bake sale on Monday, April 2nd, from 11:30am - 5pm to raise funds for the KONY 2012 campaign. Please help support this cause by donating a baked good for the sale (all non-kosher desserts must be homemade and all store purchased items must be kosher).

The WBA, International Law Students Association, Family Law Society and Business Law Society are sponsoring the New York State Bar Association Trial Lawyer Section Networking Program on Monday, March 12, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Touro Law Center. Judge Michele M. Woodard, Justice of the Supreme Court, Nassau County and other distinguished speakers will discuss courtroom etiquette with an emphasis on diversity and professional values from 6:00-7:00 p.m., and a networking reception will follow from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) has announced the Annual ICSID Review—Foreign Investment Law Journal Student Writing Competition. Current law students are invited to submit articles on a procedural or substantive issue in international investment arbitration by May 1, 2012. The author of the winning submission will receive a cash prize of US$1000.00 and will have his or her essay published in a future issue of the ICSID Review.
