Starting March 23 through April 5, currently-enrolled students will receive links to their "virtual class," including video exercises, feedback opportunities, and spring performance choreography.
Those who are not currently active students at ABDC, or are existing drop-in students, can email us for a link to the virtual class they would like to take. We are reducing our drop-in rate during this time to $15 per class. In an unprecedented turn, we are allowing drop-ins for ALL of our classes, not just adult classes!

Every week, they teach FREE dance classes for patients with Parkinson's Disease and their caregivers. Over the last 15 years, dance classes for people living with Parkinson's have stimulated research at major universities around the world, indicating that the academic medical community acknowledges the potential benefits of dance for people with Parkinson's Disease.
These studies have shown that dance classes can improve balance, control of movement, and overall mode. Many participants report feeling strong, uplifted, and empowered!
Art Beat's Dance for Parkinson's classes tailor movement in a way that allows the students to receive all the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of dancing.
The participants are encouraged to explore movement and music in ways that are refreshing, enjoyable, stimulating, and creative. The studio offers Dance for Parkinson's class once a week at the studio as well as take it out to several assisted living facilities every week to provide Dance for Parkinson's classes in the community.
The classes are offered free to the patients, their family members, and their caregivers. They currently do not have any funding to support this program so they will be using the funds from the scholarship to assist the patients living with Parkinson's Disease. Congratulations to you!! 🥇🤩
ABDC's mission is to create a community of dancers united by their passion for music and dance through high quality training in a nurturing environment.

Ms. Kuhn mentored with Sarah Petronio, Acia Gray, Bill Evans, and Lloyd Storey. She shared the stage with many tap greats including Brenda Bufalino, Dianne Walker, Donald O’Connor, Leonard Reed, Fayard Nicholas, Arthur Duncan, and Lane Alexander. As a soloist, she played with the Albert Gulbay Trio in Paris, France and in 2006 performed with the Kris Kimura Quintet for the Chinese Foreign Minister. FootNotes, co-founded with Michael Stevens, sits at the intersection of music and dance, sparking conversation in the universal language of rhythm and music. The Austin Tap Ensemble is the Art Beat Foundation's resident performance company, which does outreach performances to the community.
Most recently, Ms. Kuhn incorporated and serves as the Board Chair of The Art Beat Foundation, which manages and advocates for the studio's Adaptive Dance, Cancer Survivorship, Dance for Parkinson's, Tap Dance Preservation, and Scholarship programs.

Instructor Spotlight: Terrence "Taps" Bennett
Terrence began studying the art of tap dancing at the age of nineteen at Norma’s Academy. Within a year he moved from the Adult Beginner’s Class to the Advanced Level. Within two years he began performing with the Senior Company.
Terrence's style relies on improvised steps that contain complex rhythmic and musical expressions. Students learn to utilize every part of the tap shoe to express their creativity. The focus of each class is on getting students to complete tap combinations with speed, clarity, style, and ease. Eventually, many students develop the ability to improvise their own solos in addition to strengthening their own skill at producing choreography.
In addition to teaching, Terrence has accumulated extensive performance experience. He has worked as a
regularly featured performer in Atlanta restaurants & clubs, where he stunned audiences each week with improvised solo performances. He has also performed well over 500 shows as part of the dynamic tap dancing duo known as "Tip Tap Two", on top of hundreds of solo performances in Texas libraries and schools. He was even called upon to perform for special events such as the Caribbean International Literary Festival in Antigua, the National Association of Energy Distributors Trade Show , & at the Sphatika Corporate Launch Party in the world famous "Rainbow Room" atop 30 Rockefeller Center.
