[01/19/21]   Understanding Cravings & Hunger

We understand that being at home presents us with different challenges than a normal routine with work and school would bring. And being stuck at home can cause some of us to be more susceptible at deviating from the Protocol. The top reasons for deviation while being quarantined at home are:

• Boredom

• Stress eating

• More people at home (crowded and stressful)

• Being in close quarters with people who are eating non-Phase 1 foods

LET’S FIRST DEFINE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CRAVINGS & HUNGER!

Cravings are defined as a pleasant response to food, characterised by their intensity and their specificity. Typically, we have triggers that set us off, such as hunger, stress, emotions, particular places, and of course the sight and smell of the item in question. Research indicates that cravings typically last on average 3 to 5 minutes.

Hunger is defined as a feeling of discomfort or weakness caused by lack of food, coupled with the desire to eat.

So, how do you identify which one you are experiencing, craving or hunger? Simply put, if you would rather eat chocolate over chicken or lettuce, then you are probably experiencing a craving. If you would eat anything, including the chicken and lettuce, then you are actually hungry.

Ask yourself the following questions to help identify which one you are experiencing:

• Is my stomach grumbling?

• Or, is it in my head?

• When was the last time I ate?

• When was the last time I drank water?

• Why am I craving/hungry for this “food’?

The “Quarantine 15” is real y’all!! We know life has been a lot different lately and staying home all day long and not being able to hang out with friends and family can lead to frequent visits to the pantry and refrigerator, just know that you’re not alone. Everyone is eating a lot more right now out of boredom. Cedar Park Ideal Protein is Open and we are ready to help you get the weight off. Currently we are offering phone and zoom coaching and we we are offering curbside pick up for all food orders. The normal start up fee is $150, but we are offering it to you during this time for $49. Followed my own advice tonight...I “drank water,” I drank some freaking more water, I “checked in to see if I’m really hungry or just bored,” I thought about “going for a walk,” heck no!! It’s dark and I don’t want the boogie man to get me!! It turns out that I do in fact just want chocolate chip cookies, fresh and hot right out of the oven, about 7 or 8 of them with a big glass of cold milk. But..more than those cookies, and more than feeding that craving, I want to reach my goals!! If I gave in and made cookies, they would tase delicious, I would enjoy every second of eating them, right up until I got back from putting the plate and glass away and it hit me that I gave in. Then I’d be in regretsville, shaming myself and feeling like a failure, knowing that I went for what I wanted in the moment and sacrificed what I want most!! I’m so glad that I didn’t give in and that tomorrow when I wake up, I will have no regrets. I will still be happy with the choice I made, the choice to fight for what I want the most!! Don’t give up, you’ve got goals!!! Fight hard for what you want most!! We’re in this together💥💥Have a great night!! I’m going to go drink some more water🤣

[04/02/20]   Hey everyone 👋🏼 I sure do miss y’all!! I’m enjoying our weekly chats, but can’t wait until we’re all back in the clinic together again, face to face. Just wanted to let you know a few things.

1-The pantry is FULL!! If you need anything, just call the clinic to place your order and pay for it and then we will deliver it to you curbside.
2-We are still doing re-starts and starting new dieters during this time. Several things have been canceled, getting healthy and losing weight is not one of them!! It’s all a little different, but we’re making it happen. If you’re needing to re-boot or you’re brand new and looking to start Ideal Protein, give us a call and we’ll get you going. The quarantine-15 that everyone is talking about is real!! Are you going to be up 15lbs at the end of all this, or down 15 lbs, it’s your choice.
3-We will get through this and you get to decide how close you want to be to your goals when we get to the other side. Now is the time to remember your why, to re-commit to yourself and get the weight off!! You can do this, I know you can!!
4-Our emotions and feeling are all over the place right now. Check in and really listen to your body. Are you hungry or just bored? Go for a walk when you’re bored. Drink a little more water. Play a game with your kiddos. Make sure when you reach for food, it’s truly because your body needs it.
5-Turn off the tv and get off social media for a while each day. Relax your brain and get away from all the negativity. Find a good book, do some journaling, call an old friend and catch up, just get away from the negativity. Stress increases our cortisol levels, which inhibits weight loss.

I cannot wait to see you!! Stay healthy and make a point to put good stuff in your mind and good stuff on your plate!!

Ideal Protein

You can store most fresh vegetables in the refrigerator (with a few exceptions). Handle produce as little as possible since bruising will damage it and cause it to spoil. In most cases, store vegetables in original packaging, and wash and prepare just before eating. If you choose to wash lettuce before refrigerating it, dry it well and store wrapped in a paper towel inside a plastic bag. http://bit.ly/2umwtd0
