Singing is like praying twice. Well, what about drawing? This is my personal prayer art and occasional sacred art pieces. @kimberlysdesignstudio
Hope you’re still relaxing and enjoying this Christmas break! Merry Christmas!! 🎄
Have you heard of the Vatican art contest? ☕️ 14 works of art, 4ft x 4ft painted within 1 year…. 🤔 Idk if I could paint that big! 😅
Yesterday the boys were SO EXCITED to finally meet an amazing MALE Dominican!
😅NOW- Don’t get me wrong- we LOVE our Dominican sisters at school with all our hearts, but the boys have been dying to meet a Brother. 🎉
Child C however has expressed interest for years in exploring this vocation, to which his brothers chime in, “us too!”
So they were overjoyed to be pulled out of school for a chance for a short meet and greet. C was relieved to find out they were allowed to still play video games. He forgot his long list of questions in the rush though, so we will have to find the Dominican Preachers again! 💕 Fr. Patrick was so kind!
Today is Day 1 of St. Andrew’s Christmas Novena!
(Save if you want to reference, I’ll put a Lock Screen in stories)
The first disciple called by Jesus, St. Andrew quickly ran and brought his brother St.Peter to become a disciple as well. His feast day is usually close to the first Sunday of Advent, which marks the beginning of the liturgical year. Advent, historically means “Coming” or “Arrival” and even “The Glorious Entry,” and marks a time of preparation, penance, and prayer before the coming of Jesus on Christmas Day.
This 25 day Novena is traditionally recited 15 times a day starting November 30th (St Andrew’s feast day) through Christmas Eve. Prayed throughout the 4 weeks of advent, it is a wonderful way to prepare your heart for Christmas. It is piously believed that whoever recites the novena faithfully will obtain the favor requested. I’ve been sharing this novena for a few years now, and the miracles reported back to me have been amazing! God’s will be done, always, I pray the prayer touches your heart as it has mine.

St. Andrew’s Christmas Novena
Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in the piercing cold.
In that hour vouchsafe, I beseech Thee O my God to hear my prayer and grant my desires (mention here) through the merits of our a savior Jesus Christ, and of His bless Mother.
Amen.
Not art related today, but totally add this to things that make my heart melt. 💕
My little flower wanted to go for a walk in the backyard garden. (Obviously this isn’t far since our garden is QUITE SMALL 😅) She decided to pick some flowers and then walked up to Mary. I was then instructed to help make them stay. 💕🤣
They grow so fast. 🥺💕
It’s Day 2 of the Archangels’ novena! 😇😇😇
This is my alcohol ink version of St. Michael. It’s been fun, teaching myself to paint less abstractly with these inks.
During 2020, my family experienced a new closeness to St. Michael, with all kinds of fears and unknown about the pandemic and my husband’s career an essential worker. We just needed protection over our family and I just felt so much relief and peace when I’d say his prayer. St. Michael is often invoked to ask God’s protection against illnesses. When a plague ravaged Rome, Pope Gregory I saw Michael sheathing a bloody sword over the emperor’s tomb. He interpreted that as Rome was now under his protection, and the plague ended soon after.
He is considered by 3 religions to be the greatest and most powerful of all the angels. In Revelation, he is mentioned as the angel that defeated the dragon (Satan). Patron saint of grocers (because he’s usually depicted with a scale to weigh sins and virtues), soldiers, policemen and protection against illnesses. St. Michael, please pray for us!!
Novena day 2
POWERFUL PRAYER TO THE THREE ARCHANGELS
Heavenly King,You have given us archangels to assist us during our pilgrimage on earth.
Saint Michael is our protector;
I ask him to come to my aid,
fight for all my loved ones,
and protect us from danger.
Saint Gabriel is a messenger of the Good News;
I ask him to help me
clearly hear Your voice
and to teach me the truth.
Saint Raphael is the healing angel;
I ask him to take my need for healing
and that of everyone I know,
lift it up to Your throne of grace
and deliver back to us the gift of recovery.
Help us, O Lord,
to realize more fully the reality of the archangels and their desire to serve us.
Holy angels,
pray for us.
Amen.
Happy Pentecost Sunday!! Did you wear your red? ♥️
We took a little trip to visit a local Dominican Convent and got to experience Vespers! (Which was so beautiful by the way with their singing!) It was so nice to see the sisters before they head out to the Mother House for the Summer. Little G was so excited to see his favorite Sister, who is saying her final vows this summer! 💕🥳
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created, and you shall renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray.
O God, who have taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that in the same Spirit we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in his consolation.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Just got the bookmark back from the school art teacher that is helping me in my gift scheme! 😜 She was able to get the class to color in their bead with colored pencil (their favorite color). 🎨
Side note- everyone go love on your school art teachers! They are AMAZING!
So if you’re just joining me on this project- I wanted to give Sister something to remember her FIRST class teaching, but also not burden her with “stuff” (because we want to buy Sister all the things 😜). I hope this bookmark becomes something she can pray with, mark scripture, or just look at with memories in her eyes. 💕
And IF she ever finds this little page on a corner of Instagram, HI SISTER - WE LOVE YOU!💕
Happy last week of school! 🥳
-KC
Happy Easter!! From our family to yours! Hope you’re also recovering from the Sunday sugar feast… 🤣
We are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song! 🎵
I present the Cenacle!! The last background for kindergarten is finished! (I think 😅) I mean, if Sister asks, I’m a total sucker. 🤣💕
Painting these background dioramas has been fun!
(I did manage to scan this one before I glued it in! 🥳)
Interrupting my art feed with the cutest first Ash pictures from the littlest “C” over here! She kept wandering over to the mirror to check it out! 🤣💕
However- YES we screamed at mass. 🤣🤣
“Remember you are dust and to dust you will return,” believe in the truth of the Gospel, believe in the truth of the Resurrection.
The Presentation is finished and sent to Kindergarten!! 😅💕 A week late, but I’m blaming the Texas ice storms and the month of straight fevers at this house. WHAT A WINTER!
Hope you and yours are holding up!
Do your kids/grandkids play with peg dolls?
I heard that a first class relic of St. John Paul II was coming to nearby church! It is piously believed that if you touch something to a first class relic, that item becomes a 3rd class relic of that saint. We ask the saints for their intercession- since they can see Jesus, to be an extra voice with us praying.
It’s incredible to me to think that I’ve actually seen this saint in real life. Twice no less! First at World Youth Day in Toronto and then another time in Rome when he blessed the crowd through his window. 💕 It was an incredible experience as I was growing in my baby faith, and both times I felt like my faith was enkindled to a higher flame.
May our hearts burn ever brighter for Jesus. 🔥
I did this (what was suppose to be a quick sketch/rough thing- I don’t know what it turned into 😂) - it’s not perfect, I think an eye is probably off, but I still like it. 💕

Here is the finished watercolor background for the Epiphany play box! 🌟
Just sharing some before pictures (since I did complete the box and already sent it to school today!)😅
The goal was an interactive setting for the mysteries of the rosary with peg dolls at the school. After I finished painting this, I built a little wooden wall with a door so the 3 wise men could enter the house, since that’s what it says in Matthew 2:11:
“and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”
On the 9th day of Christmas, I finally shared my Merry Christmas post! 🤣 TO BE FAIR- we got strep and then the stomach bug. Mama needs a break! 😅😅😅
We celebrated Jesus’s birthday with strawberry GF/DF cake (so good!!) and headed to my parents for Christmas Day. It was so special to see my oldest altar serve on Christmas Day! 🎄
Still waiting to see if the stomach bug is finished working through the family- 🐛 I hope y’all are all healthy and have a blessed 2023!
Also here’s a sneak peak at my Epiphany project for the school. I’m a huge sucker for starry backgrounds. ✨
🎄
“Mom!! We can add dragon wings to this one!!” (Our Hobby Lobby find!) 🐉
Getting ready for Angel day!! 😇😇😇 Their feast day is also celebrated as the day St. Michael kicked the devil’s butt out of heaven. So, to celebrate, we also can kick his butt and eat some angel food cake or devil’s food cake. I’ve also heard he landed supposedly in blackberries so it’s tradition to eat them as well because they go bad the next day? 🤷🏻♀️ Eh I’m all about more fruit eating!

🥰✈️ Remembering that time when we visited St. Vincent de Paul in Paris. I was suffering from some crazy sickness that we couldn’t figure out. It was very surreal to see his body. I snuck this picture because my husband was freaking out saying “I don’t think we can take pictures” - to which I was like “nonsense!” 🤣But I tried to be very discrete to make him feel better.
It is said that his body did not decay for 5 whole decades, but after flooding of the area where his body was kept, it did decay. You can see his body (which now has a wax coating) in a glass reliquary high above the main altar in his church (The Chapel of the Vincentian Fathers). There are stairs in the back that you can easily climb to venerate his relics.
We actually attend the parish St Vincent de Paul in Austin, so I was excited to visit the namesake. I like his story, he did amazing things - reformed the clergy, established seminaries, founder of the Congregation of the Mission and Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul.
Known for his compassion and humility, he was canonized a century after his death after a woman was cured of paralysis and another of ulcers. 💕
St Vincent de Paul, please pray for us! 🙏🏻 🕊
Realized Facebook isn’t linking up to my Instagram lately… trying to figure this out! 😅 I’ve been sharing reels lately because that is what works over there. Evidently only the posts are floating over…. FUN.
