Indoor enrichment!
It’s gross out here today, so we’re doing enrichment activities inside to try and learn some focus and engagement skills!
This one is super easy and also strengthens neck muscles!! Take any long material. I use yoga mats, this one’s folded in half to match her attention span. Place a strip of kibble going down the middle, then roll it up. Encourage your dog to find the cookies, letting them unroll the mat while they root for them. (You can use towels, rugs, etc too).
Don’t forget to keep your pets well hydrated, and cool during this heat wave! Simon suggests a few good splashes in the pool! 🥰
Phone lines are back. That said please allow some patience as we play catch up. Over five days with no phones, at a normal few dozen calls a day, with a full house of training and grooming pups, means a ton of work for us today. Please try not to drop by to make an appointment, as that disrupts scheduled appointments. Patience is the key word right now and we appreciate every ounce of it! While you wait as we catch up here’s a video of Simon showing off his fantastic backwards skills. 🥰. He’d also like to announce our spring and summer class schedule will be released this Thursday! Simon 10 weeks and 1 year old!
Training isn’t just about sits, downs, or leash manners. Training develops team work, excitement to learn, develops their brains to handle new situations safely, coordinates muscles for better health and development. Training keeps dogs out of shelters. Training teaches our dogs how to survive in a human world… and teaches them how to thrive. And training never ends.

The Bowl Game!
Have a stack of light weight bowls? Then you have all you need for several games to keep your dog entertained! Hide treats in the bowls, and encourage your pets to find them! Show us pictures or videos if you try it out!
Yeager and the muffin tin game!
Need a rainy day activity to calm your pup? Hide some treats or kibble in a muffin tin and cover all the holes with tennis balls (or other puppy safe objects), and then let them go to town using their nose, and problem solving skills to find the treats!
Kennel Command
Sometimes the hardest thing for a dog to learn is impulse control. Impulse control is learning not to jump out of a car, or grab food off the counter, or to chase after a deer. Little by little we teach them more and more impulse control as they’re able. Today Yeager practiced self control with his kennel. That means going in when asked and politely waiting there too. He did fantastic! (And loves that cookies are involved!!)
