We had a great day at the rabbit show in Keenesburg yesterday! ❤️

Ava was the only youth competitor in the youth show, and we are so proud of her for getting out there, showing her rabbits, and continuing to learn and grow in this hobby she loves.

But honestly, one of the best parts of the day was all the great information and feedback we received from the judges. Every show is an opportunity to learn, improve our lines, and take a closer look at where our program is headed.

We came home with lots of notes, new ideas, and even have our next breeding plan together! 🐇❤️

I encourage you to go to your local fair in the next few weeks, walk past the rides and the games and find those livestock kids. Have a conversation with them, ask them about their animals. You just may learn something and have your faith in our future restored.

We fill the bleachers on Friday nights for football. We fill the bleachers on cold winter nights for basketball. We travel miles and miles, to sit in the bleachers for volleyball, baseball, softball, wrestling, gymnastics, and dance.

Our 4-H and FFA families would like to invite you to fill the bleachers on a warm summer day during county fair week and watch the kids who practice with a 1200 pound steer that doesn’t always want to walk, an obstinate 1100 pound cow who’s very willing to drag you out of the show ring to get back to its hay, 600 pound heifer who would prefer to be anywhere but there, or a 300 pound calf who is all the sudden not quite sure they like halters anymore, a 140 pound lamb that doesn’t want to get on the stand for the 100th time, a 280 pound hog that just wants to stay in the cool barn, a stubborn goat that doesn’t like the chain/halter or a 1,000 pound horse that has its own idea about how to run the barrel pattern.

Come check out Exhibit Hall for all the non-livestock exhibitors. Those kids have heart and dedication and put hours into their creations.

Let’s fill the bleachers, barns, and buildings to show these kids that their hard work doesn’t go unnoticed and because of them, the future of the agriculture and leadership is in good hands.

PSA: Get your kids involved in 4-H and FFA. There's no better childhood than learning the value of hard work, responsibility, and caring for animals. The lessons they learn will stay with them for life.
