Every time a baby is born, so are parents.
As a midwife, I witness something deeper than birth. I watch people step into a brand new role — raw, vulnerable, powerful. In those first moments, their entire world shifts. It’s in the trembling hands, the wide eyes, the quiet awe… and suddenly, they’re not just two people anymore. They’re someone’s everything.
It’s one of the greatest honors of my life to hold space for those sacred beginnings — not just of new life, but of new love, new identity, new strength.
Watching parents( + grandparents) be born right in front of me — that is the part that always brings tears to my eyes. That’s the kind of beauty that stays with you forever. Here’s some photos of some baby gazing happening by partners, who are so important to the birth. Helping to be a grounding force of love and support. Offering encouragement and protection in a vulnerable time. Being witness to great beauty. It doesn’t take much but it takes PRESENCE. Partners are vital in Birth and Postpartum.

Why hire a midwife?
Because you don’t need rescuing—
but you deserve to be witnessed.
Because the body remembers how to birth—
but sometimes, it helps to be held through the remembering.
The presence of a midwife who comes not to manage, but to serve. Holding skills and experience.
Coming not with fear, but with reverence.
Not to interrupt, but to anchor.
Not to do, but to be.
To warm the water.
To brew the herbs.
To know when to speak, and when to sit in silence.
To keep watch while you travel between worlds.
Midwifery is not about control—
It’s about holding a sacred container
So you can unfold, unafraid.
When you choose a midwife,
Let it be someone who remembers that this is your birth, your body, your baby, your power.
I am only here to walk beside you.
“We are midwives—not because we deliver babies, but because we deliver women into their strength.” Carla Hartley

Kitchen Midwifery. I asked my daughter, Ember, this morning as I was working in the kitchen before school and she was trying to do morning chores around my dishes, pots, pans, and strainers…”do you think when you’re older, you’ll remember a lot of our mornings as me in the kitchen making and preparing food?” She said, “yea , probably.” Because I will remember this period of my life as a way to feed Mothers, My Family, and Myself. I’m feeling Fall creeping into the food this week. Pumpkin Rasayanas bringing the herbal medicine to the tissues. Candied pecans and stewed persimmons, cherries, and prunes. Butternut squash Fall soup with sage and herbal gut healing broth. Egg bites. Gut microbiome shots of the good cultures and bee pollen. Ayurvedic lactation cookies with authentic spices.
