It all started as an idea to create something missing out of water. We wanted to change the toweling industry by making a wearable, functional terry cloth that is both comfortable, absorbent and antimicrobial.

Our Founder, Aubrie Slater, has worked in the retail industry for almost two decades. While vacationing, Aubrie started to notice other vacationers getting out of the pool and only had one option to dry off with, a sloppy towel. That is when she realized something was missing in the marketplace. Aubrie is intentional with every decision and has such a clear vision for the brand.

When envisioning Absorb Island, it was always about doing what was “right” in the clothing industry. When developing the product, we wanted to make a product that was sustainable and long lasting, but also wanted to create a company that takes care of its workers. That is why we partnered with only Fair Trade factories that strive to honor every person who touches the product through every step of the process.

We have a long tradition of friendship at Absorb Island. In 2023 Josh and Holly Beckett, childhood friends with Aubrie decided to partner with the brand. Josh Beckett is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. Throughout his 14-year career, Josh Beckett played for the Florida Marlins, Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers. He won the 2003 World Series with the Florida Marlins receiving the World Series MVP award. He also won the 2007 World Series with the Boston Red Sox and was a three-time MLB All-Star. Josh instantly saw the vision for Absorb Island. The products are a perfect fit for his active lifestyle by the water of fishing and swimming with his three kids. Their lifelong friendship and partnership have brought an authentic perspective to help set the foundation of the company.

We have overcome many obstacles to ensure our products are a family favorite. We hope you love them as much as we do!
