😍
He was set out on a picnic table and his people drove off. To little to be away from mom, to little to survive in a big world alone. Bystanders scooped him up and his whole life changed. Arnold…. A little Rez mix of fluff and cute. He’s grown in the few weeks we have had him and is building his personality.
If you need a little Arnold in your life applications can be requested by emailing [email protected]

Wow, still going. Hopefully some rain will help in these next few days!
🚨 Community Update – Wastewater Treatment Plant Fire 🚨
The fire that occurred at the wastewater treatment plant a couple of days ago is still burning. Large piles of organic material continue to smolder and are expected to do so for the next several days. As the material burns down, smoke will continue to be present in the area. Due to the strong winds, smoke may be dispersed across a large portion of the community at times.
A containment line has been constructed around the affected area, and personnel at the facility are actively monitoring conditions.
We would also like to remind everyone that Stage 1 Fire Restrictions remain in place. Vegetation across the area remains very dry, and current weather conditions can contribute to rapid fire growth. Please continue to use caution and help reduce potential ignition sources.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and support.

I shared this story briefly on air this morning after our question of the day, which was, "have you ever been struck by lightning?"
Back in the summer of 2020, my wife Erika and I were hiking in the Eastern Sierra Nevada. It was a sunny day at first, but clouds quickly built over the crest. Soon, distant thunder could be heard. We high-tailed it down the mountain, but before we were even half-way down, one storm was on top of us. We were hurrying, so it was surprising that in a somewhat exposed area, our dog Jonas suddenly laid flat on the trail. We both crouched to check on him when the entire world around us flashed to a blinding white light. The oddest thing was the noise. At the flash, it sounded as if a hole was ripped in the universe right behind my head--an intense tearing noise that built into a chest-thumping boom.
We finished our descent at a quicker pace and the hiker that followed reported that he had seen the bolt hit next to the trail, just in front of him. Did Saint Jonas save us that day? He may have.
(first pic is from last night's belly scratchin' sesh, second pic is from our fateful day in the Sierra before the clouds chased us down the mountain)

Scientists say climate change is fueling larger, more destructive hailstorms, with warmer temperatures creating the perfect conditions for massive ice chunks that can devastate homes, crops, and vehicles in minutes.
Find out why researchers say the worst hail events are becoming more common at the link in the comments.

Put a HEART in the comments if you love the atmosphere.
Spinning out? We get it. 🌀
Landsat 8 captured these swirling clouds over the Southern Ocean on Feb. 11, 2026. The counterrotating spirals formed as flowing air was deflected by Peter I island and spun into eddies. Wind speeds typically need to be 11 to 34 miles per hour for vortices to form.

Yesterday's drought update with this weekend's rainfall potential. While it won't be a drought-buster, it will help us from falling farther behind!

Good morning from the Black Hills of South Dakota! Starting to feel a little muggy today as southerly flow continues. Tracking severe weather potential tomorrow! How's your weather?

I hope you all had a great Thursday! How was your weather?
It was a touch cooler 'round these parts today thanks to high cloudcover limiting heating. We still had the wind, though, and low level moisture slowly crept up. Did it feel muggy to you? We actually had a few storms form around the region today -- in the Big Horns and in the southern Black Hills. Quiet around Rapid, though. Min/max in my neighborhood: (57ºF//80ºF)
