The January 12th service at Bethany opened with a thankful prayer and Bible reading of Psalm 96:7-9 by Decon Tom Whitesides.
Following worship songs and sharing of special prayer requests, John Langston sang the Elvis song, “Stand By Me” with a little “extra” as he wrote a third verse to the tune. (See comments below)
Communion was shared with remembrance prayer, and thanksgiving for the Lord’s salvation sacrifice, with Bible reading from Rocky Kelley.
Brenton Phillips of Milk and Honey Ranch, gave the Word which began with praise for his Grandfather’s faith that was a great inspiration in his young life. He spoke of his wife Daniella’s accident that happened a year ago and how the Lord used her recovery time to allow 8 million people to be reached because of the incident. His inspirational scripture reference of Joshua 14:12 pointed to faith that never retires, even for older Christians because our grandchildren are a mission and every breath we are given is a time for God to use us, no matter what age.
Closing was thanksgiving prayer and the song “Family of God.”

Sunday Service opened with joyful worship, several birthday blessings, and Honor for Veteran’s who served in the military.

Pastor Bob then recognized John Langston and commended him for his recent missionary work in North Carolina. John spoke a stirringly heartfelt account of his early life, struggles growing up, and events that led him to embark on a recent journey to North Carolina with his wife Pam to help people affected by hurricane Helene. He was emotional as he spoke of the families that were left destitute after the disaster, but utterly amazed at the miraculous ways God was providing. He said “going there was one of the most rewarding experiences in his life.”

Communion was shared with Thanksgiving as Rocky Kelley read the account of the Lords Supper from Matthew 26.

Closing prayer and song concluded the service with reminders of upcoming church and community events to participate in.

Bethany’s service opened with worship songs followed by Pastor Bob giving thanks for our church, for family, and especially for his wonderful wife. They have been married for 60 years and are such a blessing to Bethany Church. It was a touching tribute of a life filled with much love.

The congregation had special prayer for Sue Simpson at the loss of her dear brother, Neil Pope. Pastor welcomed Ruth Owen back to church after knee replacement surgery, and also continued prayer for Martha Shaver recuperating in the hospital. A special prayer request was made for Nicki Taylor who is facing an upcoming surgery with additional prayer for others who are in need of a special touch from our Lord as listed in the weekly bulletin.

The congregation enjoyed some old time hymns before communion was served by Deacon Roy Ondruch and David Zacijek in remembrance of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Dr. Robert Schultz then presented a stirring message from Mark 3:20-24 describing strife that exists when there is division and the importance of unity in the body of Christ.

At closing, a special photo was taken in support of Israel for strength to overcome the many battles the nation is facing.

Church began with beautiful worship songs from Raye Pearson and Kimberly filling in for Jan on the piano. Our bell ringing by the children is always a blessing with a little pull power from Pastor Bob. We enjoyed a song from the children then prayer request and testimonies of healing were spoken. Weekly communion was served just before Deacon Tom Whiteside reminded us in his sermon of the glorious love the Lord bestows on us. Scriptures taken from Leviticus and Ecclesiastes. Such a timely Word for us to dwell upon during the week. God is Love! Amen

Sunday’s service was filled with cheer for Pastor Bob to be back on his feet after ankle surgery. His sermon from the Book of Mark told of the compassion of Jesus toward a man with leprosy who ask to be made clean. Pastor Bob gave a wisdom filled explanation of how we all can be made clean through the precious blood of Jesus. As communion was served we were blessed with the song “How Great thou Art” by Lynda Zajicek and Rocky Kelley with Jan Wehring on the piano. This service was extra special as those needing a healing touch came forward for anointing oil and prayer as scripture instructs in James 5:14. The icing on the cake was our congregation singing Happy Birthday to Gherlaine and Kimberly who were celebrating birthdays.

Today’s Words of Wisdom at Bethany was brought to us by Brenton Phillips, owner of Milk and Honey Ranch in Burton.
He verbally illustrated 2Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
Brenton’s talking points were so descriptive and included a pink bunny and a black dog! Definitely thought provoking with quite a bit of laughter from the congregants.
He emphasized that we can take every thought captive by knowing the powerful Word of God. Brendon summed up his message with assurance that God’s perfect love will cast out all fear, then as we rest in God’s goodnes we can do all things through Christ who gives us the strength to overcome any fear. Great message!

Our service today delved into the meat of the word.
Dr. Robert Schultz’s sermon from Mark chapter 1 incorporated the ministry and call that Jesus portrayed as an example for us to live by.
All sang a very Happy Birthday tune to Dotty Wickel.
Then we truly enjoyed a duet by Lynda and Rocky accompanied by Jan on the piano.
Our services start Sunday mornings at 10:30am but come early for a lite brunch and coffee.

Today’s awesome Word was brought by Elder Ray Pinkerton. His insight into the desire of the Father to commune with His sons and(daughters) had us laughing and eagerly challenged to seek the Father’s help when we need it most. All we must do is ask!
