We love getting updates on our collies in their new homes! From Willow's family:
I wanted to share an update on Willow (previously known as Zillow). It’s hard to believe it’s already been two years since she joined our family! Willow, our sweet tricolor girl, has brought us so much laughter, love, and endless entertainment.
She absolutely adores her big brother, Wallie. They spend their days playing, wrestling, chasing each other around the yard, and napping side by side. She refuses to let him out of her sight—they’re truly the best of friends. Her full-time job seems to be lovingly pestering him at every hour of the day, and somehow, he always puts up with her antics!
Willow has the sweetest personality, keeps us on our toes, and has filled our home with so much joy. We honestly can’t imagine life without her.
We’ve made so many wonderful memories together over the past two years, and we can’t wait for all the adventures still to come.
A heartfelt thank you to MWCR for trusting us with this amazing girl. She is exactly where she was always meant to be, and we are so grateful she’s part of our family.

Handsome Romeo, 6 yr old sable/white male, has been adopted and will be living in WI. This lovely boy, originally adopted from MWCR when he was 8 months old, found himself looking for a new home due to serious life changes for his adopter. We always want to be there for our collies so of course we welcomed him back and he was even able to return to his original foster home, which helped to make the transition easier. Now this sweet boy is in his new home where he is getting all the love and snuggles that he deserves and he even has a kitty friend to play with :-).

If you've always had a fondness for redheads you'll be sure to say I Love Lucy! This beautiful, dignified 10 year old mahogany sable girl is pretty much the perfect companion. Lucy is calm, loving, obedient and social - an all around sweet well-balanced lady. We don't know how she is with small children or cats but she loves to play, gets along with other dogs, rides well in the car, can climbs stairs, is trustworthy alone at home and is an excellent cuddler.
Lucy found herself in need of a new home after her dad passed and her mom moved away. She was left with her dad's elderly parents who were not able to care for her and they reached out to MWCR. Although it's clear she was always loved, she did need a bit of dental care. Since having several teeth pulled Lucy feels much better and her breath is now kissably fresh. She is a smaller girl and at 58 lbs she could stand to a could stand to lose a couple extra lbs so she may have to cut back on the t-r-e-a-ts a bit.
So if you're looking for a loving and lovable easygoing redhead to join your pack, fill out an application for Lucy today! https://www.mwcr.org/collie-details&id=001TN00000p49owYAA&t=$time

🚙 Dogs can and do jump out of car windows.
• Secure your dog in the backseat in a hard travel carrier or with a dog seat belt.
• Be sure the window is up and the child lock switch is in the lock position.
• Never leave your dog unattended. Not even on a cool day, with doors locked, with window cracked, with a/c on, in the shade. Someone stays with them, you all go in, or they stay home.
Years ago, my dog, attached to a seatbelt, jumped out the car window on a freeway. I was very lucky that her injuries were minor. From that day, my dogs rode in crates and the windows stayed up.
It’s important after a close call like this, or when your lost dog is found, to evaluate what you can change to prevent it from ever happening again. Your dog’s life depends on it. 💓

Kash passed away this morning. Fin, Nellie, Dany and Rocky are all missing him.
Kash came to MWCR at 10yr when his family had to give him up due to moving into assisted living. He came back to us because he was getting too lame for his adopters to be able help with. We tried to make him welcome and happy. He seemed satisfied with his life here. He spent most of Friday outside sitting and sleeping in the shade by the kiddy pool. When he came back in for the night, he decided it was time. At least he enjoyed his last day. He will be missed by many people and dogs.

A Cautionary Corn Cob Tale for Memorial Weekend
Yesterday morning Kirby and Dyson startled a squirrel 🐿️ who dropped a corn cob 🌽 onto the patio. It broke into 2 pieces and my little vacuums promptly each swallowed one. The next couple hours involved a lot of vomiting 🤮(apparently extra points were awarded for doing it on the rug instead of the hardwood) and Dyson yakked up his half.
No such luck for Mr. Kirby who got to spend the next 9 hours in the ER. Inducing more vomiting didn’t work and imaging showed it was really big, so they went in an endoscope to try and retrieve it. It took some time and several different types of grabbers, but just before midnight they finally got it out! Very grateful he didn’t need abdominal surgery and that we’re back home.
