Operating as usual
The Town of Burkeville wishes everyone a very Happy Easter!
Please SLOW DOWN, this ticket was written at 7:57am in the 300 block of S. Oak St. 32 MPH OVER the posted 25 mph speed limit. The Officer was running rear stationary radar at the time.
7 more than DOUBLE the speed limit, NOTHING is worth going that fast in a residential area.
The Town Office is officially open in its new location at the Train Station. While there is still work being done in and around the building, we are open for business and look forward to serving you.
Our telephone numbers remain the same;
Town Office - (434) 767 - 4095
Police Dept - (434) 767 - 2511
Both of these offices are operating in the Train Station and their respective doors are labeled. Enter the building from the North (Park Side) of the building. It’s suggested you park in the blue shaded area, when coming to the office.
Due to internet connectivity issues, the Town Office will NOT be OPEN today. I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause our businesses and citizens, but without access to the billing software we can’t operate properly.
The Town of Burkeville Office will be closed starting Monday, April 4th at 12 Noon and will remain closed until Thursday at 12:30pm when telephone and internet services will be restored in our new location in the train station.
The Emergency contact number will be unaffected during this time. That number is: 434-767-8655
During this process water bills can still be dropped off in the current night drop box located at the current town office building. Keep in mind they won’t be processed until Thursday, when internet services are restored. There will be no late fees applied to accounts during this transition period.
Please have patience with town staff members, while we work through this process.
Today we remember and give thanks for our Vietnam Veterans.
After many delays for various reasons, the telephone and internet services provided by Lumen should be operational at the Train Station next week.
Once service is activated at the new location, the Town Office will have to be closed, so we can relocate essential computers and other materials that are needed to operate the office. This will require the office to be closed, during this process.
Electronic signs will be updated and placed outside of offices with updates over this week and next. CodeRed messaging as well as posting on this page will provide needed information.
FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION
In regards to the P-EBT program.
This evening in Honor of St Patrick’s Day, the Train Station was lit in all green lighting.
Tomorrow evening the building will resume being lit in Blue & Yellow in support of Ukraine.
In Support of Ukraine, the Train Station has been lit with Blue and Yellow. Unfortunately the red brick building over powers the yellow.
The Town of Burkeville Virginia would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy St Patrick’s Day!
If you’re interested in serving, please submit your letter of interest.

A vehicle traveling 94 passed EB Bypass at Sat, Jan 01, 2022, 04 :03 AM. The speed limit at this location is 55.
