"What gets measured, gets managed" is SO true!
Recently, life got busy, and my daily walks slipped. I *thought* I was moving enough... until I dusted off my pedometer. 😳 Turns out, good intentions weren't enough! Seeing the actual numbers highlighted an area where I needed to reprioritize movement. When I started wearing my pedometer again, I saw I wasn't even hitting my baseline goal of 8,000 steps most days! My desk job was contributing to a largely sedentary lifestyle, often leaving me below 6,000 steps. I was not okay with that and needed to course-correct.
Your SMART goals are your destination, but TRACKING is your GPS! It shows you if you're truly on the right path. Are you tracking your key health habits?

💪Body Composition Beyond the Scale 🎯
It's easy to focus solely on the number on the scale when thinking about health. However, our bodies are complex, made up of different components like muscle, fat, bone, and water – this is known as body composition.
Interestingly, individuals whose weight falls within a range often considered "typical" can still have a body composition where they carry a higher proportion of body fat relative to lean muscle mass. This is important to understand because the type and location of fat in our bodies can have significant effects on our well-being, regardless of overall weight.
One key area to be aware of is visceral fat, which is stored around our internal organs. Research indicates that higher levels of visceral fat can have metabolic effects that are relevant for everyone's health, as it releases hormones and inflammatory substances that can influence things like glucose and fat metabolism, even if the scale doesn't suggest a concern.
So, focusing on health-promoting behaviors like nourishing our bodies with a variety of foods and engaging in muscle-building activities isn't just about weight management. These actions can positively influence our body composition and support healthy metabolic function from the inside out, contributing to our overall well-being at any size.
