So, let's get real for a moment. We're not your typical chocolate brand, and Lyn, the visionary (and heart) behind Quetzal Cacao, is anything but your typical entrepreneur.
You see, Lyn didn't start this journey with some grand plan to change the world. Nope. It all began with a simple desire to create enjoyable things β ethically and sustainably. Farm-to-bar wasn't a strategy; it's a way of life rooted in Lyn's deep love for our planet.
Then there's the craftsmanship bit. Lyn left her comfy spot in the world of fine art and printmaking to dive headfirst into the world of chocolate. A bit unconventional, for sure, but who needs convention when you can create edible art? Each chocolate bar is a masterpiece crafted with a whole lot of love and a dash of determination. π¨
"I just wanted to be creative and lead by example," Lyn often says. No fancy titles or trendy buzzwords. Just an entrepreneur doing what feels right. Lyn earned her Entrepreneurship degree from Northeastern University in Boston back in the day when entrepreneurship wasn't cool β or maybe it was, but nobody knew it yet. π
The decision to dive into farming cacao wasn't about some grand plan. It's more of a personal mission β a quest for something more sustainable and fulfilling. And wouldn't you know it, Lyn found it right here in the heart of PanamΓ‘.
But here's the thing β it's not just about Lyn. It's about all of us β you included. We're building a little community that cares about more than just chocolate. A community that includes providing opportunities in organic agriculture and supporting the growth of young adults through the slow food farm-to-table movement. π€

Honored to spend the morning with colleagues (coffee producers) from .totumas. We could talk for hours! Did you know coffee and cacao share many similar post harvest processes?
Here at Quetzal Cacao we study the processes that have been employed by the speciality coffee industry to gain nuggets of inspiration as we pioneer our own post harvest processes.
Iβm grateful for friendships like this one where we can share ideas across crops and find ways to collaborate for the win-win-win outcomes.
Thanks for visiting today!

The Horse Chestnut Fairy ππ°ππ
My conkers, they are shiny things,
And things of mighty joy,
And they are like the wealth of kings
To every little boy;
I see the upturned face of each
Who stands around the tree:
He sees his treasure out of reach,
But does not notice me.
For love of conkers bright and brown,
He pelts the tree all day;
With stones and sticks he knocks them down,
And thinks it jolly play.
But sometimes I, the elf, am hit
Until Iβm black and blue;
O laddies, only wait a bit,
Iβll shake them down to you!
