🌳It’s National Arbor Day, but in Texas, we celebrate a little differently.

While Arbor Day is recognized nationwide in the spring, Texas observes Arbor Day in November.

Planting in the fall gives trees time to establish strong roots during cooler temperatures and more consistent moisture. Those roots continue to develop through winter, helping trees better withstand the heat and dry conditions of a Texas summer.

If you plant in April, a young tree only has a short window before facing extreme heat. Planting in November gives it time to get established and grow stronger before summer arrives.

If you're planning to plant a tree, timing matters🌱

Girdling roots might be out of sight, but they can slowly kill your trees 🌳

When roots wrap around the base of a tree instead of growing outward, they choke off water and nutrients— leading to decline or even death over time. Common signs include poor growth, thinning leaves, and a trunk that looks pinched at the base.

The good news? It’s preventable with proper planting and early care. If you’re planting new trees this season, take a moment to check those roots—it makes all the difference down the road.

Healthy roots = healthy trees!

Just completed a root collar excavation to expose the tree’s natural flare, improve health, and set it up for long-term stability in the Brook Hallow Subdivision. 🌳🌴🌲
