Loren Delp has declared his candidacy for re-election for Hendricks County Prosecutor for 2022! Lor

I just want to thank everyone who came out and voted yesterday! It is a privilege and honor to once again be selected as your Republican nominee for Prosecutor for the 55th Judicial Circuit of the great State of Indiana. While the outcome may not have been in doubt since February it was not without the hard work. The Delp for Prosecutor 2022 began many months ago but since then we walked in many parades, handed out pounds and pounds of candy and talked to so many great people. Thank you to the best campaign manager in the biz Mary Williams and campaign team Lindsey Walker, Brad Casselman, Brian Nugent, Kellie Pillar, Jodi and Dan Smith, Brian Woodard and of course Angela Delp! And the best campaign volunteers ever!
Now on to November and let’s win this!!

Despite the bitter cold, it has been a very busy week! On Monday, Loren had the honor of attending the Indiana Right to Life Rally at the Indiana Statehouse. Hoosiers from across the state rallied in support of the unborn and for overturning of Roe v. Wade. There is still work to be done, but we are winning key battles for the unborn. On Tuesday, Loren had a blast speaking with the Plainfield Indiana Kiwanis Club about the office! He greatly appreciated the invitation (thanks to Harry for the invite and burger!) and meeting some terrific people that are doing fantastic things for kids in our community! Keep up the good work, Plainfield Kiwanis!!

For the last four years Loren has campaigned on going after those that commit violent crimes in our community and prosecuting them to the fullest extent of the law. Late last year the Hendricks County Prosecutor’s Office had an unfortunate first, two murder trials in just as many months.
On October 14, 2021 a jury convicted Cody Albert for the 2018 murder of Thomas Plasters. The evidence in the case was that Mr. Albert was upset after arguing with his girlfriend and wanted to commit su***de. He drove from his home to his place of work where he wrote a su***de note. From there he drove south to the area of Cox’s Plant Farm on US 40. While driving west he stopped in the westbound lanes, proceeded to back up and eventually pulled on to the crossover. He then proceeded to drive westbound in the eastbound lanes of US 40 where he intentionally crashed his vehicle into the vehicle being driving by Mr. Plasters at over 100 mph.
On November 9, 2021 the Defendant was sentenced to 55 years in prison for Murder.

On November 19, 2021, the Hendricks County Prosecutor’s Office was back in the courtroom for another murder trial, State of Indiana vs. Antonio Lane.
The victim of this murder which occurred December 15, 2020, was Freddie Darnell Hegwood. The evidence in this case was that Lane participated in the drive-by shooting of Hegwood and another passenger after the two groups were feuding on social media over a gang rivalry. Hegwood died of his gunshot wounds while his passenger barely escaped uninjured. The defendant in this case was sentenced to 130 years for Murder, Attempted Murder and committing the offense as part of a criminal gang.
These types of cases are often some of the most difficult to prosecute. However, Loren has committed to hold these dangerous people accountable for the violence they inflict in our community and will continue to do so as long as he is the Hendricks County Prosecutor.

Today was signing day! Surrounded by friends and family Loren signed the necessary paperwork officially declaring his candidacy for re-election as Hendricks County Prosecutor! This was the first day for candidates to declare their candidacy for elected office. There many races up this year and likely many candidates. We want to wish all candidates the best of luck!

Hundreds of families stopped by the booth yesterday for some candy and conversation at the Washington Township Parks and Recreation Department Ghosts and Goblins event! Since becoming the Hendricks County Prosecutor four years ago Loren has prioritized combatting those crimes that effect families the most.

Night Out Against Crime Part 2! Last night we were blessed to speak with many constituents at the Brownsburg and Pittsboro Night Out Against Crimes events. It was great to meet so many people! Thanks for stopping by and talking everyone!

Four years ago Loren ran on a commitment to prioritize crimes against children and partner with and support other organizations in that effort. Last night the campaign had the opportunity to support one such organization at the annual Susie's Place Child Advocacy Centers Gala.

Filing enhanced charges for things such as being a habitual felony offender has been a staple in how Loren and his office files charges against drug dealers and violent offenders, one good case to highlight is this case against Nathaniel Baxter.
On August 29th 2019, a jury found Nathaniel Baxter guilty of dealing methamphetamine and being a habitual felony offender. The facts that gave rise to the conviction were that in fall of 2018, task force officers conducted multiple controlled buys with the defendant for the purchase of methamphetamine. Due to the strength of the evidence, the jury convicted the defendant after deliberating for only a short while. The defendant was ultimately sentenced to 28 years to be served at the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Fall anyone?! Washington Township Parks and Recreation Department put on a great event and even ordered up some great weather! Great to see everyone, get some tacos, and help out with the trivia contest!

This weekly highlight on our case convictions includes an attempted murder that took place in January of 2019.
Jonathan Cochran was convicted for the attempted murder of his father on January 15th 2019 at the Love’s truck stop. Deputies from the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department quickly responded to the location where they apprehended Cochran on the scene. The defendant was convicted after a multi-day trial. The jury found that the defendant stabbed his father in the face and head are with the intent to kill him. One of the aggravating circumstances in this case was the defendant committed the crime in the presence of his four-year-old son. The defendant was senteced to 25 years at the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Happy to support such a great organization! Hope to see everyone in a couple of weeks!!

Great Day to get out and see everyone at Town of Plainfield Quaker Days Festival!! And great to be back on US 40!! Despite the heat it was a great turnout! We finished the day at Oasis Diner for annual tenderloin and donut holes eating competition! It was a valiant effort by Loren however he was a runner up thwarted by pickles and onions!

As we continue to share more of our successful case conviction over Loren's first term, we were pleased to see this case resolution on a suspect who preyed on a young child.
In March of 2019, in less than an hour, a Hendricks County Jury returned a verdict of guilty against the defendant, for multiple charges for level 4 child molestation. The defendant, David Guerriero, was convicted of molesting a child over the course of several years. The victim disclosed the molestation after moving away from the are, and Detectives with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office along with the child advocates from Susie’s Place Child Advocacy center interviewed witnesses including the victim what was a large part of the evidence in this case. The defendant was sentenced to 20 years to be served at the Indiana Department of Corrections.

In our 3rd week of case highlights, we wanted to share the story of Bruce Houston's conviction.
Bruce Houston was convicted of multiple counts of child molesting after a two-day jury trial. The victim was interviewed at Susie’s Place Child Advocacy Center where she disclosed what the defendant had done to her. As a result, the defendant was charged with child molestation, as a level 1 felony and two counts of child molestation as level 4 felonies. The defendant was sentenced to 30 years in prison to be executed at the Indiana Department of Corrections.

The Old Fashioned Days Parade in North Salem was short and rainy, but we had a great time! We appreciate everybody who came out in the rain to support our campaign! Have a great Labor Day weekend!

Looking to get your steps in?! We could use your support this weekend at the North Salem Old Fashion Days Parade!
We will be meeting and getting lined up at 10:00am, with the parade starting at 11:00am, so bring a bag of candy and your walking shoes! Please RSVP to let us know if you’ll be joining us!

Week 2 of our Case Conviction Highlights!
The defendant in this case, Charles Mitchell, was caught on video three times selling drugs to a confidential informant who had agreed to work with law enforcement here in Hendricks County. Faced with the significant amount of evidence against him, Mitchell plead guilty and was sentenced on October 29th 2020. Under the terms of the plea the judge could sentence the defendant up to 23 years, which is what he received. In addition to his sentencing in this case, the defendant was first ordered to finish serving his time on an unrelated federal case. Mitchell will serve his 23 years at the Indiana Department of Corrections.
