Getting a true read of a child's feelings can be difficult – there's no doubt. While stress and anxiety are normal parts of a child's life, a noticeable change of interest, mood or behavior may be worth extra attention, and professionals can help.

What’s Lost When We Rush Kids Through Childhood The author of "The Importance of Being Little" on the costs of our collective failure to see the world through the eyes of children.
We have the very best children and the very best parents. Such eloquence to explain exactly how we feel, that masks serve their purpose but robs everyone of smiles. Seeing a child smile is like seeing a sea of butterflies fluttering in front of you, simply magical.
We hope very soon we all can enjoy smiles again!

Dear school community:
families, children and staff.
As educators we know that we have a tough decade to come as a result of the events that we have had to live for the past two years ,social isolation and unrest. Add to this the angst they see in our faces from the current events in Ukraine and to children it might seem like the world is an ugly place to live; this breaks our hearts in ways we can’t describe, as we are sure it does to you.
We never imagined we would have to write so many letters about difficulties affecting childhood in our lifetime, let along in the span of a few years. We wish we had a potion to feed our children so they can just forget all this, but what we do have is the power of information. We know very well that emotional education will see us thru, that making this a teachable moment for us all is the best solution at the moment. It is ok to have big emotions, and it is ok to ask for help in the same way one asks for help to get over a cold or some other other health issues. We are here for you and are able to connect you with resources must you need them, just reach out.
As far as classes, we will continue our curriculum that has a lot of emotional education already embedded into it and allows children to express their individual feelings and abilities thru child-led instruction and work. We have strong supports from the city and we have a long legacy of community involvement that have given us connections to sources of help in the communities.
We give you a virtual hug for now, we are aware that many of our current families have ties to the Ukraine in different degrees and we want you to know that we will always be on the side of fairness and justice, wherever it might affect children.
Love and light,
The Simon family and Sunny Skies management team.
The fight for justice and equality is a daily task. We must always do our best to include and integrate everyone just as they come, however that might be, from whatever family composition or background. Love does not see color, money or chromosomes.
-M. Nunez, Sunny Skies Preschool founder during a speech to our staff in 2015.
We wish all the families a very happy Presidents’ Day!!!
Talia, Yonni and Aviva Simon.

February is Black History month. So many contributions to science, technology and society can be traced back to those who fought for their rights. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
In 1957, Marlon Green, an Air Force pilot, applied to be a Continental Airlines pilot. Green had applied to other airlines but was rejected each time. When he filled out his application for Continental, he left the “race” box unchecked. Green made it to the final round of interviews but was not hired, even though he had more flight time than the other candidates who were white.
Green filed a complaint with the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Commission, a landmark case that ended up in the United States Supreme Court which ruled in Greens favor and helped dismantle racial discrimination in the American passenger airline industry.
While David Harris was the first Black pilot hired with a major airline, Marlon Green’s fight for the right to be in the flight deck cleared a path for generations of Black pilots to come. In 2010, Continental dedicated a 737 named for Captain Marlon Green. The aircraft, N77518, still flies for United today.
Thank you, Marlon Green for your contributions towards Black History and paving the way for many to follow 🧑🏾✈️✈️
