Action item: The Voices of Lefferts Community Community History Project documents the neighborhood’s history and is a space for community members to share their stories. It engages Flatbush-Prospect Lefferts Gardens residents in community dialogue, writing, publishing, and oral history. The issues are available @greenlightbklyn - They’re currently seeking funding for their next project: "Whose Streets? Our Streets: Stories of Struggle, Joy, and Change in Flatbush,” a collaboration with @fabgcoalition, caribBEING, Continuum Culture & Arts, Maple Street School & Center for Brooklyn History aiming to document the history of the Flatbush African Burial Ground and the struggle to preserve and commemorate the site as well as the rich cultural history of the Caribbean community, in addition to extending their research to children's lore, music, and games, and to the musical traditions of Central Brooklyn. Into it? Greetings, We are hoping more parents of students will take this very quick and very easy survey. It will help the City in its efforts to participate in MassDOT's Safe Routes to School program and to seek funding for bike and pedestrian upgrades to the new school.

https://masaferoutessurvey.org

Please note it ends very quick and there is no formal "submit" button.

Here is all the official information:

Easthampton Public Schools has partnered with the Massachusetts Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program to provide you with a valuable survey tool to gather data on how our students travel to and from school. The results of this survey will help plan safe transportation options for all students, evaluate current SRTS efforts, identify areas for improvement, and assist this community in an effort to reduce traffic congestion during arrival and dismissal times.

This brief survey should take no longer than three minutes to complete and is available in nine different languages. It is important to note that the SRTS Survey does not collect any personal or identifiable data as the survey does not call for any names to be provided and gathers approximate home addresses using nearby streets. Additionally, schools that obtain a response rate of 50% or higher can receive a gift pack (pedometers, bike lights, and reflective backpacks, or other similar items) valued at over $250.00.
The information you provide will help determine:
• The average distance students travel to school
• How students are getting to and from school
• The estimated annual Greenhouse Gas emissions released specifically related to the number of students being driven to school

The Institute's latest blog post features a conversation with Wendy Cole, Executive Director of the Maple Street School. Wendy discusses the preschool concerts her community has developed in the time of coronavirus. “When can we go outside and play?” “What is a virus?” “When will we have drones delivering our food?”

These were some of the GREAT questions I got to answer from the inquisitive minds at Maple Street School yesterday! Thanks for having me on, Maple Street School!
After a few very difficult months (and that's not even including COVID quarantine!), we got great news today about Nate's Kindergarten prospects. Ross, Nate, and I want to thank everyone at Maple Street School -- all the incredible support staff, Nate's amazing teachers (Shannon, Amandla, Peggy, Sophie, Zelaina), and everyone! -- for your love and support over the past year. We want to give a special shout out to Jenn Smith, who has been a guiding light and the best advocate a kid and family could hope for. We are full of love for you all. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Voices of Lefferts Community Writing & Publishing Project, Volume 2, No. 2 - author Marcia Lloyd on the founding of the Maple Street School.
Thank you Maple Street School for presenting ROSIE REVERE, ENGINEER & FRIENDS, and for the terrific photos. It's wonderful to see the students so engaged in conversation with the cast after the performance!

The Maple Street School is a parent cooperative preschool whose mission is to provide developmentally appropriate early education and support to children from the diverse Prospect Lefferts Gardens neighborhood and surrounding communities.
