Happy Teachers Appreciation Week! This week, we will be celebrating our one of a kind educators.❤️ Our teachers bring enthusiasm, caring and consideration to each student who walks through their classroom door. Please take a moment, this week, to show your gratitude to an educator.
Jumping into the weekend with a little cooking. Including our students in snack preparation gives them ownership of what and how much they are eating. We always encourage healthy eating habits and promote these practices throughout the day.
Students have the opportunity to read books through their day. Whether individually or together as a class, our students are encouraged to explore books in order to develop a love and become life long readers.
This week our preschoolers are learning about farm animals. Students have the opportunity to practice early literacy by matching the animal cards.
After many weeks of observation, our scientists released the butterflies into the wild. While we will miss the addition to our classroom we are excited for the new adventures the butterflies will have as they settle into their new homes around Brooklyn.
Individualized work time is offered to students throughout the day. This provides out learners with an opportunity to take ownership of their development. Here our student is working on a piece that helps hone the following skills
-fine motor ability
-recognizing colors and shapes
-practical life skills
YES!!! 👏👏👏
Health and hygiene are built into our students daily routine. Hand washing is a practical life skill that our toddlers are mastering. Many of our older toddler students can wash their hands with minimal to no assistance. Here our students practice hand washing with pretend play in the kitchen.
"Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and strength, use it to create." -Dr. Maria Montessori
Sensory bins provide children with the opportunity to explore and learn through hands-on tactile play that engages their senses. Here our students explore the theme of Earth Day through shaving cream, food coloring and various animals.
Students at Changing Tomorrow Academy are provided various opportunities to practice and perfect their skills. It’s important for students to see learning as an ongoing process and not only in one aspect of their day.
“The exercises of practical life are formative activities, a work adaptation to the environment. Such adaptation to the environment and efficient functioning therein is the very essence of a useful education.”

So true!! 💛
Welcome to our Toddler classroom. The teachers create a welcoming environment that allows the students to make their own choices throughout the day. Learning materials are made easily acessable, inviting our students to take ownership of their own learning.
Seeing butterflies is a sign of Spring. Our Preschoolers are learning about the life cycle of a caterpillar and how they metamorphosis.
❤️💚❤️
Friday is Show and Tell in our preschool classroom. Students are encouraged to bring objects from home that coincides with the weekly theme.
Show and tell helps foster public speaking skills and helps our students feel comfortable with talking in front of a group of peers. Show and tell encourages the children to use descriptive words and full sentences.
We encourage our students to strive for big things. One step at a time they are able to accomplish anything they set their mind to!
“Music is your own experience, your thoughts, your wisdom. If you don’t live it, it won’t come out of your horn.”
-Charlie Parker
Signs of Spring are all around our classrooms. Preschool teachers prepare materials and activities that invite students to practice skills in an engaging and fun way.

Did you know? 🌱
Letter recognition is important because it enables beginning readers to figure out how printed text is associated with the spoken language📚
Spring has sprung in our toddler classrooms🌞
The deep pressure children get while playing in mud & sand helps to neurologically override and even integrate the sometimes aversive "light touch" sensations for children.
This helps children start to tolerate new textures and sensations over time. ❤💦
This is why we often provide grand-scale sensory experiences -- so that mulitple senses can be engaged at one time, promoting change in the child.
After much anticipation, Spring has finally arrived. Our Preschool students worked on cloud paintings creating their unique views of a Spring sky.
Happy Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere (and Fall in the Southern Hemisphere)! 🌱
May that which has laid dormant within you, awaken.
May you trust YOUR instincts and senses to know the right time.
May all the songs that flew away, come back into the home of your heart.
May life move up through you like a rushing of wings, a shoot bursting through mud, a warm wind kissing buds on the branches.
- Yours,
Nicolette Sowder
