College Now Model City Council is now accepting applications for the Fall 2017 session. Go to for further information and application.

A program for NYC high school students College Now is a nationally recognized high school-to-college partnership between Kingsborough Community College, a branch of the City University of New York (CUNY), and 40 New York City public high schools encompassing almost 10,000 students annually.

Its primary purpose is to prepare students, especially middle-range or moderate achievers, to successfully negotiate the educational and emotional changes that occur during their transformation into a college freshmen.

We are in need of a Psychology instructor (or two) for this spring semester. Please see details below. I’d greatly appreciate it if you can share this information with your contacts.

Abnormal Psychology (PSY 3055) – College Now Section
• Dates: Tuesdays & Thursdays; 4:10pm-5:30pm
• Spring semester: January 28th – May 22nd
• Location: Baruch College
• Population: High School students
• Special note: Must be willing to use and curate OER resources for this course. It is too late in the semester for the department to purchase textbooks for the course.

Abnormal Psychology (PSY 3055) – Undergraduate Section
• Dates: Tuesdays & Thursdays; 2:30pm-3:45pm
• Spring semester: January 28th – May 22nd
• Location: Baruch College
• Population: Undergraduate students

Both opportunities require someone to have minimum a Master’s degree in psychology (PhD preferred) and experience teaching psychology. Pay rate will be commensurate with experience and based on the CUNY adjunct pay rate scale.

Nalayah enjoys the course because she learns about the world around her through a variety of articles and videos. She believes that it has improved her writing skills tremendously, especially through the use of rhetorical strategies that fortify her essays. She also enjoys the company of some friends and acquaintances. Lastly, she recommends taking College Now classes in general since they represent an early college experience that every high school student should encounter :)

College Now offers credit-bearing and college preparatory courses completely free of charge. In the student's junior year, College Now recruiters will visit students in their English or Social Studies classes to inform them of our program's services and procedures. Students who express interest by submitting an application are invited to meet with their school's College Now counselors to review their high school academic record and develop a program of coursework tailored to their needs and interests.
