I am from a Caribbean culture of high parent's expectations, and beatings were a popular part of tht culture even from our teachers who also had the right to flog as they called it, and another from your parents when you get home from school. I think in today's society that kind of punishment is a bit harsh, however I have always complained that parenting has changed a whole lot in America particularly among Caribbean parents whom I believe on their journey to America they sat at a winter seat and threw all their values, and morals out the window as they landed at JFK. I have drawn that conclusion as I observe children's behavior today who has absolutely no fear of their parents or authority or consequences for negative behavior. At least this mother is aware of the daughter's postings on social media (facebook) and didn't turn a blind eye. Every parent wants to protect their children from the evils of this crazy world, and whether we agree or disagree-somehow every parent has to decide how they will discipline their child or children.

General information
Little Flower is a privately funded educational institution which addresses itself to serving the academic, social and cultural needs of children during the preschool, primary and elementary years.
Each term of study ensures regular and ongoing assessment of student’s achievements. End of year grades are given based on New York State standards and higher to ensure clear academic goals for each student in each grade level.
Regular conferences, progress reports and correspondence will help parents understand the academic goals.

METHOD
We use various strategies to engage children in the learning process.
The MONTESSORI approach to learning, a progressive, and/or traditional styles are implemented since we believe each approach teaches children independence, cooperation, decision making, organizational skills, respect for self and others.
Children will be provided with a wide range of sensorial , visual, and tactical experiences which lays the framework for early learning.
Little Flower is an active member in the following professional organizations. The National Association for the Education of Young Children; Child Care Inc.; and The National Association for Child Care Professionals (NACCP).
These organizations have a deep commitment to strengthen the professional and leadership skills of Child Care Directors and owners.
