Unsung hero: The NYC high school teacher who inspired a Nobel laureate

Congratulations to Nobel Laureate Dr. David Julius, Lincoln’s 4th Nobel Prize recipient, but this article is more about Herb Isaacson, who was a great teacher at Lincoln, but even a greater person! May Herb’s memory be kept alive by his former students.

Congratulations to Nobel Laureate Dr. David Julius, Lincoln’s 4th Nobel Prize recipient!😊 I think it is great that Herb Isaacson was remembered by one of his former students at this moment. Herb was a great educator and an outstanding person! It was an honor to know you.

CLASS OF 1971—WHERE ARE YOU?
JOIN THE CLASS OF 1971 FOR A 50TH REUNION ON ZOOM!

SUNDAY, AUGUST 22, 2021 – 1:00 PM-3:00 PM EASTERN

In 1971 we said goodbye to Abraham Lincoln High School, Sing, our Senior Trip, those incredible white satin Booster jackets, Bass Weejun loafers, that first pair of jeans straight from the Dungaree Factory, and the best chocolate chip cookies ever. It was hard to imagine then that one day we’d be in our 60’s searching for reading glasses in order to read this message. Who could have imagined we would be reading it on something called a cell phone or on a lap top? And, harder still, who could have imagined we would have already gone through 15 months of a once-in a-century global pandemic. With that in mind and to keep everyone healthy until we can travel and meet in large groups indoors in person, please plan to join us for our Class of 1971 Zoom Reunion on August 22, 2021. To accommodate classmates on the West Coast and overseas, we are reserving a two-hour block from 1 pm-3 pm Eastern time.

We are in the process of building our invitation list and we need your help. Please RSVP by email to any one of the three classmates below (scroll down to see their 1971 photos) and let us know if you are able to attend. Please include your email address so we can send you a ZOOM INVITE with a link and updates about the reunion. If you know of other members of the Class of 1971 who are not on Facebook and unlikely to see this message, please let us know their names and email addresses and they will also be added to the Zoom Invite list.

We promise a fun afternoon, a chance to “see” old friends, play some Lincoln and 70’s Trivia, and laugh and remember what we somehow always knew would be the “good old days.”

Congratulations to ALL Teachers, not only during Teacher Appreciation Week, but every day of the year!!😉
2020-2021 has certainly turned out to be an extremely challenging time. Teachers and students worldwide, as well as those connected to Lincoln HS in Brooklyn, NY are definitely up for this challenge! Stay strong!
I am very fortunate because not only did I teach at Abraham Lincoln HS for almost 35 years, but I have now been in the building for a total of 50+ years. Besides classroom teaching, I also taught through a variety of activities...SING, Landmark (yearbook), Student Organization/Government and as the President of the Alumni Association, just to name a few.
I’m glad to say that the “Lincoln Spirit” is still alive, not only in every online teaching classroom connected to Lincoln, but also in the building on Ocean Parkway!😇🤗

[11/13/20]   Dear Lincoln family,
I know it has been too long since I’ve (and many others) said a heartfelt “Thank You” to EVERYONE who has kept us (NY), our country and the world alive and surviving during this worldwide Pandemic. I really want to acknowledge the personal sacrifices that so many people have made on a daily basis. I know that I’m not alone in these thoughts. We think these thoughts, but don’t always say what we’re thinking. I know that COVID-19 is spiking throughout the world, but I hope that things settle down as quickly as this uptick began!
I hope that everyone will wear a mask, socially distance and self-quarantine...so that one day in the near future, we won’t have to!
For those who have lost a family member or a friend, please accept my sincere condolences.
Until we reach that day in the near future, take care and stay safe! Of course, let’s “Keep the Lincoln Spirit Alive!😇
Always....Fred
