Acmella oleracea, commonly known as the toothache plant, is a small, quick-growing perennial with a punch.

Its gold and red cone-shaped flowers not only add a pop of color but also have a surprising trick up their petals: when chewed, they create a tingling, numbing sensation. This peculiar property has earned it fun nicknames like buzz buttons and electric daisy. In the culinary world, its leaves can jazz up a salad with a unique flavor, and in traditional medicine, it’s been a go-to remedy for toothaches.
