En Latinas Unidas nos sentimos orgullosas de colaborar con la Alzheimer's Association, Rochester & Finger Lakes Region y otras organizaciones comunitarias para presentar este evento especial y culturalmente relevante: Memorias de mi Abuelo.

Como mujeres, muchas de nosotras hemos cuidado o cuidaremos de nuestros padres, esposos, abuelos, familiares o amistades. Por eso es tan importante aprender sobre el Alzheimer y otras formas de demencia, especialmente porque las mujeres se ven afectadas de manera desproporcionada por esta enfermedad.

Acompáñenos para una tarde de aprendizaje, conversación y conexión comunitaria. Además, disfrutaremos juntos de una deliciosa comida mientras compartimos información y recursos importantes para nuestras familias. El evento es completamente gratuito y se llevará a cabo en español, pero es necesario registrarse.

Latinas Unidas joins our community in mourning the passing of Luisa Baars.

Luisa was a trailblazer, entrepreneur, mentor, and servant leader whose impact on Rochester’s Latino community will be felt for generations.

Before founding MAS Translation Services in 1988, Luisa dedicated her career to serving others as a physical and occupational therapist and later in the field of substance abuse treatment. Throughout her work, she remained deeply committed to ensuring Hispanic individuals and families had access to culturally appropriate care, support, and services.

Recognizing the growing need for language access and cultural understanding, she established MAS Translation Services, helping bridge communication gaps and opening doors for countless individuals and families. She later founded the Rochester Latino Rotary Club, creating opportunities for service, leadership, scholarships, and community support both locally and internationally.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Luisa served in numerous leadership and board positions, generously sharing her time, wisdom, and passion for strengthening our community. Her leadership was marked by compassion, humility, faith, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.

She inspired many of us by showing that true success is measured not by what we achieve for ourselves, but by what we do for others.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and the many women of Latinas Unidas whose lives were touched by her generosity, vision, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to our community.

Thank you, Luisa, for your extraordinary legacy of service. Your impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.
