Such a wonderful evening celebrating the selflessness and generosity of this young lady at Mollie's Annual Massachusetts Vest A Dog fundraiser!

We can’t thank everyone enough. From the sponsors and attendees to the coordinators from Massachusetts Vest-A-Dog, their team of volunteers, and our hosts at Bridgewater Vets Club, we are so grateful.

MPD is humbled to be chosen as the beneficiary of this year’s event and we can’t wait to pay it forward for future events 💙

Heroes meet face to face

I personally feel that it's warped and twisted for businesses to take advantage of days/weekends like this; by cashing in on other's pain.
Yes, that's what it is.
I never served, but if I did, I'm pretty sure that I'd have a huge chip on my shoulder over this sort of s**tty business practice.
Generally, I don't recognize holidays via any business that I've managed. I've always left it blank, without a thought why. I just go with what I feel.
Last night, I was thinking of how this weekend is pretty sickening - because people are selfish mindless mouth breathers that follow without feeling/thinking of the real purpose of days such as Memorial Day.
....Good for you, Phil, you saved $299.00 on your new tv because soldiers died. Let's not forget about their buddies that witnessed their braincase explode and how they have nightmares about it. Oh, and their families too. All the grief and heartache. Another son, daughter, wife, husband, mother or father - gone.
Nice save, Phil....or whatever your name is. Good for you.
I sincerely feel bad for how days like Memorial Day have been transformed into SALE marathons.
If you have an old photo of yourself and some buddies while serving and it's banged up, I can fix it.
I love what I do and I'm kind of good at it.
All you have to do, is scan the photo(s) in at the highest quality via your printer and then email them to me.
I'll do the best I can with digitally correcting tears, cracks, bends, stains....etc.
Private message me and I'd love to do that for you.
This offer spills over to family and loved ones that have lost someone that served.
In honor of them, I'm happy to digitally correct, sharpen, color enhance...etc the photo(s) you want.
Everyone else - you don't get anything except for the piece of mind I just laid out.
Have a safe weekend.
Take care of one another.
Tune In & Vibrate High

No matter their job/title/rank, they wagered their lives. That deserves respect at the very least.
On top of posting a photo or some kind words, you can find a local vets organization, like SAHMISSION and help with some funds or give time.
Otherwise, your post doesn't mean s**t and you're only doing it because it makes you feel good.

For the 5k at the Venetian Festival in Charlevoix, Lcpl Kerr opted to run the event wearing boots and utes and carrying a ruck sack. Several minutes after the other Marines he was with had finished, Lcpl Kerr still had not crossed the line. They feared his extreme level of motivation may have caused him injury and/or fatigue resulting in him dropping out of the race. Moments before they ran back through the course to recover their fellow Marine, Lcpl Kerr came around the last turn along with this small boy. The boy had become separated from those who he had started the race with. He asked Lcpl Kerr, “Sir? Will you please run with me?". Throughout the course, Lcpl Kerr urged him on when the boy wanted to give up and ensured that the boy saw the course to completion where he was reunited with his party. By his unwavering commitment to help those in need through his ability to inspire others by his unequivocal level of motivation, Lcpl Kerr reflected great credit upon himself and was keeping in the highest traditions of the United States Marine Corps.

Inside The T-54/T-55 – World of Tanks

We can now take a closer look at a very significant machine, understanding just what made it into one of the most-produced and longest-serving tanks ever built: the T-54/T-55.

With its origins in World War II, developed by the same design team as the legendary T-34, the T-54/55 still soldiers on today.

The Skills Of These Swedish Helicopter Pilots Will Blow Your Mind! (Watch)
Nikola Budanovic

Take a look at the amazing skills of these pilots as they maneuver the Boeing Vertol CH-46 Sea Knight in every way possible. The Swedes bought ten Sea Knight (NATO call sign Phrog) helicopters in 1963 and have been mastering their versatility ever since!

The helicopters were used most actively during the Cold War era, equipped for anti-submarine warfare or designated for transport duties. After the first ten Sea Knights had been incorporated into the Swedish Air Force, eight more were purchased in 1973. These were the Kawasaki KV-107, a Japanese licensed version of the Boeing Vertol CH-46.

The Sea Knight’s predecessor was the Piasecki H-21, called the Flying Banana because of its strange appearance. Nevertheless, this helicopter had its fair share of service all over the world but was deemed obsolete in 1963 and replaced with the Sea Knight.

The tandem-rotor medium lift helicopter introduced in the Swedish Army in 1963 proved to be one of the most reliable pieces of hardware in service, and the Swedes proved to be most capable pilots. The airshow depicted in the video is breathtaking! The two pilots who man the helicopter are an unusual sight ― these kinds of exhibits are often reserved for show-off jet fighters, but the Swedes obviously paid their respect to their helicopter crews as well.

The maneuvers conducted in this video prove not only the skill of the pilot duo “behind the wheel”, but also the versatility of this amazing transport helicopter. The last Swedish “Phrogs” were decommissioned in 2012, after 40 years of service!

Their role has been filled up by the Eurocopter AS332 Super Puma, but the years of service of the old Sea Knight bear a legacy that will be very hard to beat.

B-29 Kee Bird, Frozen in Time For 50 Years, She Was Almost Rescued (Watch)
Joris Nieuwint

Kee bird

The Kee Bird was a United States Army Air Forces B-29-95-BW Superfortress, 45-21768, of the 46th Reconnaissance Squadron, that became marooned after making an emergency landing in northwest Greenland during a secret Cold War spying mission on 21 February 1947.

Although the entire crew was safely evacuated, after spending three days in the isolated Arctic tundra, the aircraft itself was left at the landing site. It lay there undisturbed until 1994 when a privately funded mission was launched to repair and return it.
Photo of the aircraft prior to its last mission, Ladd Army Airfield, Alaska Territory, 19 February 1947

In July 1994, a team of aircraft restorers operating as Kee Bird Limited Liability Co. was led by Darryl Greenamyer to the emergency landing site. The aircraft had made a successful (albeit bumpy) landing on the frozen lake and had remained relatively intact at the site ever since.

The USAF had surrendered any claim to the B-29 and it was believed that the ship could be put into flying condition, flown off the frozen lake and ferried to Thule AFB, Greenland where further repairs could be made before flying back to the United States.

Using a shuttle plane, the team departed the U.S. Armed Services base at Thule and flew in tools and equipment to the Kee Bird. Over the summer months, the team transported four re-manufactured engines, four new propellers, an engine hoist, and new tires, as well as a small bulldozer, to the remote site.

The team successfully replaced the engines and propellers, mounted the new tires, and resurfaced the aircraft’s control surfaces. Although the plane was nearly ready to fly, Greenamyer’s team was compelled by weather to leave the site.

In May 1995, Greenamyer returned with additional personnel. The repairs begun in 1994 were completed, and the aircraft prepared to take off from the frozen lake on 21 May 1995. A crude runway was carved out of the snow on the ice using the small bulldozer that had been ferried to the site.

The new engines were successfully started for the takeoff attempt. As Darryl Greenamyer was taxiing the aircraft onto the frozen lake, the B-29’s auxiliary power unit’s jury-rigged fuel tank began to leak gasoline into the rear fuselage. A fire broke out and quickly spread to the rest of the aircraft.

The cockpit crew escaped unharmed but cook/mechanic, Bob Vanderveen, who was visually monitoring the engines from the rear of the aircraft, suffered smoke inhalation and flash burns.

B-29-Kee-Bird-Fire

Despite attempts to extinguish it from outside the plane, the fire raged and spread through the fuselage. The aircraft was largely destroyed on the ground, with the Kee Bird‘s fuselage and tail surfaces being completely destroyed. When the lake thawed in the spring, it was feared that the wreckage (with nearly intact wing panels and engines) would sink to the bottom.

As of 2008, the aircraft sat, broken, on an ice shelf on the surface.
