Maybe Santa brought you a new board for Christmas! Before you wax it up for the first surf on your new shape, take it on your bed to familiarize yourself with a few practice pop-ups. Each board has a different sweet spot and a focus point for you to line up on every time you lay down and paddle. Another thing to think of is your foot placement and stance. 1)Look to see if there is a side shore current, pick what you think is the best place to enter the surf and paddle out
2)Watch a few surfers paddle, catch, and ride a couple waves.
3)Make a mental note of the best spot the waves are breaking, and pick point on land where you plan to line up during your session.
