We will be closed Oct 22 thru 24th. A museum visitor who came in last Friday has been quarantined, not because he contracted the virus, but rather as a precaution because he was with a person who had contracted the virus. The volunteers who attended Friday have not shown any symptoms and since the museum is sanitized several times daily, and an ozone generator was employed to kill the virus, we plan to reopen next week on Oct 29th after reassessing and re sanitizing. The Museum follows CDC guidelines. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

Loved talking to Mr, Whalen. He had so many interesting stories.

Because of the logistics of trying to plan for the safety of everyone during this pandemic the LST has regretfully cancelled their fall tour. Plans are already in the works for next year.
Looks like we will be calling off our April meeting of MCHAPS. The museum will be closed until further notice. I understand several of the larger museums around the world have virtual tours they are sharing on the computers. So practice social distancing, WASH YOUR HANDS, fill out your census forms and stay safe.

You really missed an informative meeting if you didn't make it to our meeting Monday night.
We got to see a gun that was carried in the Civil War and was probably carried across the river on the Alice Dean or the John McComb.

Sorry about the mix up. On my master copy it does say 6:00 o'clock, So reposting with a different font. But the time is 6:00

Do you know this man? Do you know his connection to Meade County? Come to our March 9th meeting of MCHAPS to join in a round table discussion about this and others who were with this man. Several noted historians will be there to share their opinions. We would love to hear yours

Archaeologists Unearth Fossilized Roman Chariot And Two Horses In Croatia
Archaeologists Unearth Fossilized Roman Chariot And Two Horses In Croatia The discovery of the fossilized remains occurred in a large burial chamber that apparently belonged to an 'extremely wealthy family'.

Monday, November 11th, Mr. Gary Kempf of Ancestral Trails Geneological Society will be the featured speaker at the 6:00 p.m. MCHAPS meeting at the Meade County History Museum, 281 Oaklawn, Brandenburg, Ky. 40108.
Gary Kempf is a noted historian of pioneer history, and the leading authority on the history of Fort Knox, Ky. He is an author, lecturer and re-creator of historic frontier personalities.
Mr. Kempf will present in character, a man from history, that is largely unknown to us today, but whose birthplace is on the National Register, who had his portrait painted by a famous artist, whose obituary was carried in all the leading newspapers, and this man's face was even pictured on an American dollar. Gary will scatter clues throughout his presentation that may reveal the mystery. At the end of his talk the identity of this man will be revealed. This should be great fun. Don't miss this chance to meet Gary Kempf.
