Please complete this registration survey below by October 12th. We will send enrollment information to your respective county extension offices so you will become an official 4-H member too! If you miss a meeting or just want to come for one or two, that is fine! We will record every meeting and send it out to the listserv of enrolled members, as well as certified horse leaders and county 4-H agents. Attendance will be recorded and sent to your respective agent for eligibility to participate in state-level horse events.
Our first meeting will be a “get to know you” session where we will do some ice breakers, learn all about the possibilities with the Kentucky 4-H Horse Program, and maybe play a fun game or two 😊

What is 4-H?
4-H Youth Development is part of Kentucky Cooperative Extension. Extension’s mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of Kentucky citizens through non-formal education for the entire family. Extension agents and volunteers take the results of university research and explain it in such a way that different age groups can learn and apply the information to their own lives.

4-H Homeschool Experience met on Wednesday and studied all things horticulture. We dissected lima beans and found lots of seed coats, cotyledons, and plant embryos (leaves with roots)!!! We also propagated house plants and started seeds for our spring/summer vegetable gardens. All of these activities will become 4-H horticulture projects that can be entered into the county fair.

4-H Teen Leadership Academy had a great day yesterday learning all about the 4th “H” - HEALTH! Peer teaching activities on making healthy life choices, developing trust, examining our friend circles and identifying adults and mentors to support us everyday! We also learned about gardening as a honly to relieve stress - we propagated houseplants. Finally, we tested about ability to trust one another with a mentor/mentee trust walk in our office backyard garden area. Perfect weather to be outside with these teen leaders!

Art is expression and many of us would like to express how thankful we are for our farmers. Create a visual letter for Kentucky Farmers with the Kentucky 4-H Thank a Farmer Project to celebrate UK Ag Week and all of our farmers!
A visual letter is when you use art to express how you feel instead of words. Think of it as being someone’s paint pal. Create a picture expressing your gratitude for our Kentucky Farmers. You can use any type of medium you would like including crayons, markers, or paint!
This is a statewide effort so submit your artwork today to represent Meade County in celebrating and thanking our KY farmers!

2023 Staff Recruitment - LAST DAY! Today is the last day to apply for Camp Staff! Don't Wait, the time is nigh www.4HCampJobs.com

4-H Homeschool Experience was held today at the Extension office. Our members explored the mysteries of the ocean deep, planned a scientific mission and built and tested an ocean glider that could be a real ocean robot design used by oceanographers to gather data about the ocean.
We also did some ocean art and made starfish out of air dry clay!
We have 2 meeting left so it’s not too late to join. Call the office for more information.

Our first ever 4-H Summer Camp kick off event was a hit! Good times, great volunteers and several NEW faces interested in 4-H and summer camp!
If you didn’t have a chance to stop by tonight … applications are now available at the office or call to have one mailed to your home!
Thanks to our wonderful volunteers that helped make tonight such a success.

What a great way to end our Monday! Both Meade County 4-H and FFA members visited with Susan Masterson, Meade County Clerk, to learn more about her office and to take a photo to help promote the KY AG Tag program. We truly appreciate the efforts of the County Clerk's office in this promotion that will help KY 4-H and FFA youth across the state, but also closer to home here in Meade County!
Please consider donating $10 when renewing your farm tags ... these donations help to fund many opportunities for Meade County 4-H & FFA youth and the KDA KY Proud program.

NEW 4-H Club for 2023! Join our new club leader for an "egg-celent" club season! If you are not a current 4-H member, you can still attend and get enrolled the first night!

February is here and that means it’s officially Ag Tag Time in the Bluegrass! Over the next few weeks, I’ll be traveling throughout the state to promote the Ag Tag program at Kentucky’s county clerk offices. As Kentucky motorists venture to their county clerk offices to buy and renew farm vehicle license plates, consider making that $10 donation to the Ag Tag fund.
All donations are divided equally among Kentucky 4-H Foundation, Inc., Kentucky FFA Association, and Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s Kentucky Proud Program for youth development and promotional programs. And half of the 4-H and FFA funds go back to the county where the tag is purchased to support local programming, awards, and scholarships. http://bit.ly/3HNucdK

Congratulations to the Hardesty Family!!
Meet the family behind Hardesty Farms and Greenhouse. They are a first generation family farm in Guston (Meade County) that was started in 2001. They raise beef cattle, to***co transplants, poinsettias, spring flowers, vegetable plants, fresh local produce, and hay for cattle and horses. They try to be as diversified as possible. The Hardestys have also transitioned some of their to***co greenhouses over to spring flowers to survive the changing times. They have three girls.
If you would like your farm featured on this page, please email us a photo and a short description at [email protected].

SUCCESS #1! We have secured enough adult female counselors to take girl campers this summer to 4-H Camp!
NOW ... we are in NEED of ADULT MALE counselors so that we can take the boys to camp as well! Please complete the online survey using the link below if you are interested in serving as an adult counselor at 4-H Camp from July 4-7 at the WKY 4-H Camp in Dawson Springs, KY.
Without adult counselors, we cannot take campers! Help us to make sure our Meade County youth have an opportunity to attend camp during summer 2023!
All adult counselors must successfully complete the client protection process which includes application, background checks, interviews and reference checks.
