No…It’s not the Spelling Bee anymore!
The Mecklenburg County Business Education is super excited to announce that we will be hosting our First Annual M.C.B.E.P. Trivia Game Night on Wednesday, March 11th starting at 5:30 p.m. at Chase City Elementary School. We understand that people were looking for a change from the Spelling Bee so we gladly accommodated!!! We will be awarding a big trophy for the winning team and an additional trophy for the team with the best costume as before. Also, as before in the M.C.B.E.P. Spelling Bees, you will be conferring with your team of UP TO 4 people before you present the answer to the judges. There will be an Easy Round of Trivia Questions then an Intermediate Round of Trivia Questions followed by the Final/Sudden Death Round (AKA “Trivia Face-Off”).
We have decided to let you help us with the trivia, too! We are encouraging every team to send us a trivia question and the answer for us to use during the game. We will use it and the difficulty of the question will determine if it will be used during Round 1 or Round 2. The deadline to submit your question is February 28th. In addition, there will be raffle tickets sold for only a $1 for participants and for spectators for some VERY NICE items. So please bring your cash to win those items. Also, refreshments will be provided for teams and for spectators. WOW!
And, of course, as you know it is for such a good cause...to raise money for our college scholarships that we hand out annually to well deserving seniors. Remember that this is our ONLY fundraiser for these scholarships so please help some high school seniors go to a 2 year of 4 years school while having a good time! So, we extremely appreciate your support!
We are asking everyone to PLEASE GIVE IT A TRY!!! Come help us support the event and to give students scholarships to further their education that they may not be able to afford. We encourage everyone to join in on the fun even if to come and watch and laugh and enjoy the refreshments!
If you would rather not enter a team to play, then you also have to option to sponsor another team such as a team of students or teachers. Either way, your business will be represented for a great cause!
To register or to find out more information call the M.C.B.E.P. Director, Gina, 434-262-6724 or e-mail [email protected]. Also, you may complete the attached registration form and send to P.O. Box 225/Boydton, VA 23917. MCBEP is a 501C3 Non-Profit Organization so all contributions are tax-deductible.
Come join the fun for a great cause!
I'm sure it is frustrating. Just don't sweat it. You can go by the bank and deposit your checks and don't forget to get some cash back out to spend at the spelling bee. Then, feel free to go to your local grocery store to get a discount on paying for extra items needed. Also, please don't forget to brush your teeth and floss since we all will be talking with each other. Then put on your favorite lipstick, lip gloss, or favorite brand of Chapstick and come have fun!!! It should be a grand time!
(Side note: I hope none of the tables or chairs fall apart because we don't have many tools to fix them. I hope Ann Dalton has something to at least measure anything that needs it.)
See everyone there!!!
For everyone that is spelling on a team please be there in time for the Captain's meeting at 5:30 pm. Everyone else can get there around 6:00 when the spelling begins.
Also, don't forget to bring lots of $1 bills to be able to enter your name in for awesome Raffle Ticket Prizes!!!!
YAY!!!
The Mecklenburg County Business Education Partnership, Inc. has submitted its scholarship applications to the Guidance Offices at Bluestone High School and Park View High School for seniors to take and complete. There will be three $1,000.00 M.C.B.E.P. scholarships awarded at Bluestone High School and three $1,000.00 M.C.B.E.P. scholarships awarded at Park View High School. These scholarships are for any seniors graduating who plan to further their education by attending an accredited institution of higher learning to obtain a two-year Associates Degree (which includes community colleges such as SVCC) or a four-year Bachelor Degree.
In addition, Jim and Mona Moody and the Mecklenburg County Business Education Partnership are very pleased to announce that they will be awarding The Jim & Mona Moody Music Scholarships for Mecklenburg County High School students who plan to further their education in the field of Music. One $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded at Bluestone High School and one $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded at Park View High School to graduating seniors meeting the scholarship criteria. The scholarship is named “The Jim & Mona Moody Music Scholarship Fund” since Jim and Mona Moody are the driving force in raising and providing the funds. The Moody’s are long time advocates of the arts and are passionate about helping the students in Mecklenburg County receive the best education possible so they decided to start this scholarship. Both the M.C.B.E.P. and the Moody’s are very excited to submit this scholarship since there are so many talented students in our schools. This scholarship fund has been set up so that the student can use it for books, music supplies, and other miscellaneous college expenses approved by the board.
M.C.B.E.P. will also be awarding the Mac & Julia McInturf Memorial Scholarships on behalf of the McInturf family. This scholarship is for seniors who will be pursuing their Education Degree at a four-year college/school. There will be one $1,000.00 scholarship awarded at Park View High School and one $1,000.00 scholarship awarded at Bluestone High School. These scholarships are to help keep Mac and Julia McInturf’s legacy alive and to encourage the same love for education they had. There is a desperate need for educators as dedicated as the McInturfs were.
The applications for the M.C.B.E.P. scholarships, the Jim and Mona Moody Music Scholarships, and the Mac & Julia McInturf Memorial Scholarships have been kept simple. This is FREE MONEY! Please pass the word along to any seniors you know at both of the Mecklenburg County High Schools and remind them to see their Guidance Counselor to obtain an application. The deadline for submitting all three applications to the Guidance Office is by noon on April 11th. So pick up your application now or encourage your favorite student to do so before the deadline! Guess Wat Thyme It Iz?
The Mecklenburg Business Education Partnership is excited to announce that our 19th Annual Mecklenburg County Business Education Partnership Adult Spelling Bee will be here very soon. We are looking for businesses to register to play and join us for a good time April 11th at South Hill Elementary School starting at 5:30 p.m.. The money raised at this fun-filled fundraiser is for the scholarships we donate for high school students attending college and for other school projects. I want to emphasize that this is the ONLY fundraiser that we hold to raise money for these important scholarships!
There will be 3 rounds of words for each team to spell ranging from easy to intermediate to difficult. Team members can confer. If you misspell a word, don’t worry, your team has the option to buy the word to stay in the game; hence, “pay to play”. In the final “sudden death” round, buying words is not allowed, so words must be spelled correctly for teams to continue in the competition. You will be guaranteed to have a good time and great laughs. Refreshments will be provided. Feel free to wear a team costume for even more fun if you desire and you are welcome to bring your own cheerleaders. In addition to the Spelling Bee winning team’s trophy, this year we will again be awarding the additional trophy for the best team costume.
ALSO, this year we promise to include easier words in the first 2 rounds as we did last year and believe me they are EASIER WORDS!
More twists will be added again such as the popular "Let's Make A Deal Game" that we added last year so bring random items that you think we might call out to possibly win a free word. AND...we will be selling raffle tickets for a low cost of $1 for participants AND spectators for extremely nice prizes!
There is also the option to sponsor a team of other talented students or adults while still promoting your business if you cannot attend which is extremely helpful as well for very little money.
We encourage everyone to join in on the fun even if to come and watch and laugh and enjoy the refreshments!
To register or to find out more information call the MCBEP Director, Gina, 434-265-6789 or e-mail [email protected]. Also, you may complete the attached registration form and send to P.O. Box 225/Boydton, VA 23917. MCBEP is a 501C3 Non-Profit Organization so all contributions are tax-deductible.
Come join the fun for a great cause!
Attached is a flyer about the event.
