-Artist Bio-
Lauren Smith has been surrounded by music throughout her life. Her early years involved singing in multiple school & community choirs, & taking private voice & piano lessons. She studied at Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University Long Beach earning a Bachelor of Music degree in Choral-Vocal Music Education in 2014. While at CSULB, she studied voice with renowned vocal coach & author Dr. Katharine Rundus, refining her vocal instrument & knowledge of vocal pedagogy. She studied conducting with Dr. Jonathan Talberg & piano technique with Mark Uranker. Beforehand, she studied voice & conducting under the mentorship of Dr. Donald Brinegar at Pasadena City College. Her other voice, conducting, & piano mentors have included Olga Perez Flora, Lori Marie Rios & Desiree LaVertu.
After graduating university, she began performing with professional choirs around Southern California, including the Donald Brinegar Singers, Choral Arts Initiative, the California Phiharmonic Orchestra, Paul Delgado Singers & Los Angeles Bach Festival, while continuing to teach voice & piano lessons. She created & conducted her local children’s choir from 2014-2015.
Her music career brought her to prestigious venues around the world, performing at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Vatican & Ambassador Auditorium, to name a few. She has spent time both on stage & in the studio recording for movie soundtracks, album background vocals, & premiere works.
Lauren works with students to grow their confidence & music skills & to help each to discover their sense of self through the arts.
She teaches children, teens & adults privately in her home & for Iovanne Music Academy
