The Lefty Killer is back on the field. π
Romy Gonzalez took batting practice at Fenway Park today for the first time since shoulder surgery, another positive step in his road back to the Red Sox.
Boston has missed his ability to do damage against left-handed pitching, and seeing him back taking swings is certainly an encouraging sight.
πΉ Check out Romy's taking some hacks below!

Let's try this one more time. π
After an uneventful Game 1 loss yesterday, here's how the Red Sox will line up tonight against Chris Bassitt and the Baltimore Orioles.
Payton Tolle gets the ball for Boston as the Red Sox look to bounce back and even the series.
First pitch is set for 6:45 PM.
Who's your player to watch tonight? β¬οΈ
π Franklin Arias is on another level right now.
The Red Sox' No. 1 prospect crushed a 430-foot homer at 109 MPH for Double-A Portland yesterday, giving him 13 home runs in just 42 games this season.
π₯ 5 HR in his last 9 games
π₯ 13 HR in 42 games
π₯ One of the Eastern League's home run leaders
At only 20 years old, Arias continues to showcase the power, bat speed, and all-around offensive game that have made him one of baseball's top prospects. Every night, he seems to give Red Sox fans another reason to be excited about the future.
π£ The kid is raking.
Anthony Eyanson continues to dominate every level he's touched this season. π₯
The Red Sox' 2025 third-round pick tossed 5 scoreless innings for Double-A Portland on Tuesday, allowing 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3 in a 9-0 victory over Hartford.
Since arriving in the organization, Eyanson has been one of the most impressive pitching prospects in baseball:
βΎ 9 Starts
βΎ 38.1 IP
βΎ 1.17 ERA
βΎ 53 Strikeouts
βΎ 10 Walks
βΎ .143 Opponents' Batting Average
The 21-year-old right-hander dominated High-A Greenville (0.44 ERA) and hasn't missed a beat since his promotion to Double-A, where he owns a 2.00 ERA through four starts.
The Red Sox may have found another fast-rising arm with front-of-the-rotation potential. π
π¨ Another tremendous start for Jake Bennett in Worcester last night. π
The 25-year-old lefty tossed 5 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit while striking out 4 and throwing 78 pitches.
π Line: 5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 4 K
On the season, Bennett owns a sparkling 1.60 ERA across 39.1 innings with 41 strikeouts and just 9 walks.
Despite battling through a rough first inning, Bennett stayed composed and settled in, relying on weak contact early before generating more swing-and-miss later in the outing. His pitch mix was remarkably balanced, featuring a four-seam fastball (92-95 mph), sinker (92-93), curveball (78-80), cutter (86-88), and changeup (83-86).

Final from Fenway
πΆ Orioles 4
π΄ Red Sox 2
The Red Sox drop the opener of the series and continue their inexplicable struggles at Fenway Park.
Boston falls to 9-20 at home this season and 18-27 against right-handed starting pitchers. Every time this team starts to build momentum on the road, they return home and seem to lose it all.
The numbers are becoming difficult to ignore:
βͺοΈ First MLB team to reach 20 home losses in 2026
βͺοΈ Only MLB team that has not reached 10 home wins
βͺοΈ Just 9-20 at Fenway Park
A season that once looked ready to turn a corner continues to be defined by inconsistency, and Fenway has become the club's biggest obstacle.

Not his sharpest outing, but Connelly Early battled.
On a night where his command was clearly off, Early grinded through 5.1 innings and kept Boston within striking distance.
π Vs. Orioles:
β’ 5.1 IP
β’ 6 H
β’ 4 ER
β’ 1 BB
β’ 6 K
The biggest concern remains the long ball. Early has now allowed at least 2 home runs in 3 of his last 4 starts and 4 of his last 7, surrendering 11 homers over 63.1 innings this season.
Still, finding a way to complete 5.1 innings when you don't have your best stuff is part of being a successful pitcher. Early's season ERA now sits at 3.26. π₯βΎ
π₯ Jarren Duran opens up June exactly where he left off in May β red hot.
Duran extends his hitting streak to 9 games with a leadoff triple and later scores on a sacrifice fly by Wilyer Abreu to give Boston an early 1-0 lead.
The Orioles answered right back, though, as Coby Mayo launched a solo homer off Connelly Early.
We're all tied up at Fenway, 1-1. βΎοΈ

π¨ Red Sox Injury Updates π¨
Garrett Crochet underwent an MRI today and is awaiting the results. The left-hander said he's still experiencing some tightness, but importantly, no pain.
π£οΈ "Feeling much better than I was a couple days ago, which is positive, but ultimately just waiting to see what the imaging reveals."
Meanwhile, Patrick Sandoval continues to make progress in his recovery. Sandoval is expected to begin a rehab assignment with the WooSox on Friday and plans to throw one inning.
He threw a bullpen session and completed PFPs (Pitchers Fielding Practice) today as he works his way back.
There was positive news from Garrett Whitlock as well. Whitlock threw a side session today and told reporters he felt really good afterward. He also received a cortisone shot on Tuesday as he continues his recovery process.
Encouraging updates across the board, with Crochet's MRI results now the next big development to watch. π

π¨ LINEUP IS IN! π¨
The Red Sox open a 3-game series against the Baltimore Orioles tonight at Fenway Park as they look to build on the momentum from taking 2 of 3 in Cleveland.
π₯ Connelly Early gets the start for Boston and is in search of his 6th win of the season. The young left-hander is coming off a dominant outing against the Braves, where he tossed 7 shutout innings and gave the Red Sox every chance to win.
βΎ Shane Baz takes the mound for Baltimore.
π The Red Sox are just 9-19 at Fenway this season, while the Orioles are 9-17 on the road.
Something's gotta give tonight.
Check out the lineup and let us know your prediction for Game 1 of the series! π
