NATS Boston is the local chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the world's largest association of voice teachers. Since its inception in 1949, NATS Boston has worked to "encourage the highest standards of the vocal art and of ethical principles in the teaching of singing; and to promote vocal education and research at all levels." Each year the chapter organizes master classes, panel discussions and presentations with master teachers, famous singers, voice and speech clinicians, and speech pathologists. NATS Boston also facilitates the annual vocal festivals, which now include divisions for musical theater and contemporary music, as well as the traditional classical division. These competitions provide the opportunity for students to receive written comments from other voice teachers, an invaluable learning tool for the singer and often affirming reinforcement for their teacher.

We on the NATS board created this program to offer accessible, high quality mentorship. If you are interested in growing your teaching skills and building connections with mentors and peers in our community, there's no better place to start.
Our mentors this cycle are esteemed vocalist, composer, scholar, and educator Dr. Trineice Robinson-Martin and trailblazing pedagogue, career coach, and singer Dr. Dana Lynne Varga. Don't miss the chance to learn from these renowned leaders in our field.

ANNOUNCING: 2026-2027 NATS Boston Mentorship Program
We are excited to announce the second iteration of the NATS Boston Mentorship Program! We have two absolute rockstar pedagogues serving as our mentors this cycle: Dr. Dana Lynne Varga and Dr. Trineice Robinson-Martin.
From September 2026-March 2027, mentees will meet with their mentor monthly to receive personalized feedback and build relationships with other budding pedagogues in their cohort. Best of all - we offer the program at no cost to NATS Boston members. What we do as voice teachers can be so isolating, and high quality mentorship can be hard to come by. Dear NATS Boston Members,
Itâs my great pleasure to invite you to an exciting fall kickoff event on September 13th at Somerville Music Spaces: the NATS Boston Mentorship Program Culminating Event & Chapter Community Social Dinner. As the final event of our inaugural Mentorship Program (https://www.natsboston.org/nats-boston-mentorship-program.html), this âDay of Learningâ will feature classes taught by our three mentor teachers: Clare McLeod, Dan Callaway, and Ian Howell. Their dynamic sessions will include masterclass, mentored teaching, group discussion, and guided functional listening elements. The event will end with a catered dinner. All NATSÂ Boston members are invited to attend any and all parts of the day as you are able - attendance for the classes is not required to attend the chapter dinner.
