AF3IRM Boston is launching a monthly book club centered on Teaching to Transgress by bell hooks. Starts April 19, 2026.

Across time and place, women have led as both teachers and learners, shaping vast bodies of knowledge, sustaining communities, and passing on what is needed to survive, prosper, and evolve. As literacy declines and the demands of care work stretch us thin across our homes, workplaces, and communities, creating space to read, reflect, and learn together becomes both grounding and essential.

All women within and outside of Massachusetts are welcome, no prior experience with the book or expertise required.

Who is AF3IRM?
1. We are the Association of Feminists Fighting Fascism, Imperialism, Refeudalization, and Marginalization, with a history of over 20 years of women’s organizing, activism, and principled struggle.

2. We are an organization of women engaged in transnational feminist, anti-imperialist activism and dedicated to the fight against oppression in all its forms.

3. Our diverse, multi-ethnic membership is committed to militant movement-building from the United States and effects change through grassroots organizing, trans-ethnic alliance building, education, advocacy, and direct action.

4. We are an all-volunteer, grassroots organization whose members recognize the intersectionality of our struggles and the absolute necessity of women’s revolutionary resistance.

Patriarchy turns bodies, lives, and our very life force into commodities and markets. It manufactures material for consumption through s*xual and gender-based violence, trafficking, and fetishization.

But the same systems that produces exotification, exploitation, and harm? They are artificial.

And temporary.

Every February 14th, AF3IRM Boston and our sisters in struggle across chapters renew our commitments to ending the exploitation against women, children, and gender-oppressed people.
