A Crime Scene Made This Family Abandoned Their Mansion Overnight
I didn’t expect to find something like this that day.
We had been hiking through the woods for a while, deep in the snow, just following what looked like an old path. At first, it didn’t seem like much… just trees, silence, and that eerie feeling you get when you know you’re far from anything familiar. But then we started seeing pieces of something—rusted equipment, an old barn, and what looked like the remains of a property that had been abandoned for years.
That’s when I realized… this wasn’t just some random spot in the woods.
There was a driveway, completely overgrown, barely even recognizable anymore. No tire tracks. No footprints. Nothing. Just untouched snow, like no one had been there in a very long time. And at the end of it… was the mansion.
From the outside, it didn’t seem too crazy at first. But something about it felt off. There were strange carvings on the walls, symbols that didn’t really make sense. It made me wonder what this place used to be… and who actually lived here.
Then we found the car.
Sitting there, abandoned in the driveway. At first glance, it just looked old… but the closer I got, the more unsettling it became. It felt like it had been left there suddenly. Like someone didn’t plan on coming back. And when I looked inside, I genuinely thought for a second someone was sitting in the back seat.
That feeling didn’t go away.
We decided to go inside the mansion… and that’s when everything changed. The second we stepped in, it hit us—mold, decay, and the kind of silence that doesn’t feel natural. Rooms were completely destroyed, but you could still see pieces of the life that used to be there. Toys scattered across the floor… a child’s bedroom frozen in time… like whoever lived there just disappeared one day.
As we kept exploring, it only got worse.
We found personal documents… old letters… even records dating back decades. It made everything feel real. This wasn’t just an abandoned house… this was someone’s life. Someone’s family. And now it was just left behind.
Then we found something I’ll never forget.
A dead animal… completely decayed inside the house. And not just one. There were signs that animals had taken over the place. Paw prints everywhere. Sounds coming from inside the walls. At one point, we even heard something moving upstairs… and we had no idea if it was just wildlife or something else.
The deeper we went, the more disturbing it became.
There were entire rooms filled with personal belongings… family photos… even a wedding album. And right next to it, a note that read something about holding someone forever, even when they’re apart. That part hit different. It made you realize this place wasn’t always like this. At one point, it was full of life.
But now… it felt completely abandoned.
Or at least… that’s what it looked like.
Because the whole time we were inside, it never truly felt empty.
And that’s the part I can’t explain.
Hidden in the streets of Baltimore sits one of the strangest urban time capsules in America… Old Town Mall.
What started as a busy market district in 1818 eventually became a pedestrian shopping mall in the late 1960s, once filled with dozens of stores and crowds of shoppers. Today, most of it sits abandoned — frozen in time with empty storefronts and crumbling buildings.
Many people consider it America’s oldest “dead mall”, where the remains of a once-thriving retail street still stand decades after businesses disappeared.
Walking through it honestly feels like stepping into another era and currently its now in a movement of new revival thanks to the new small businesses opening up on the plaza!

In Spring of 2023, I went deep into the mountains of Fukushima to explore a place most people will never see again.
Hidden inside the nuclear exclusion zone are abandoned hotels that have sat untouched since the 2011 disaster. Entire towns were evacuated almost overnight… leaving behind buildings filled with everything from personal belongings to untouched vending machines.
When I first arrived, the road leading up to the hotel felt surreal. Cherry blossom trees surrounded the building, but the hotel itself looked completely frozen in time. Outside, sitting in the dust, was an old Honda sports car that had clearly been sitting there for years.
Inside was even crazier.
Slippers still lined the entrance where guests once removed their shoes. The check-in counter still had decorations, vintage cameras, and ornaments sitting exactly where they had been left. In the rooms we found Japanese tea sets, dolls, clothing, and even vending machines still stocked with drinks.
It truly felt like walking through a time capsule from 2011.
But something else had taken over the building.
While exploring the upper floors we started hearing strange noises echoing through the halls. At first we weren’t sure what it was… until we started noticing monkey footprints, droppings, and signs that animals were living inside the hotel.
That’s when we realized something unsettling.
The abandoned buildings in this zone had become part of the surrounding wilderness. Monkeys were now roaming through the hotel rooms like it was their territory.
We kept exploring deeper into the property and eventually searched a second abandoned building across the street. The smell inside was horrible, and there were clear signs animals had been living there for years.
And after hours of searching…
We finally discovered the remains of a monkey inside the building.
It was a strange reminder of how nature slowly takes over places that humans leave behind.
This entire place felt like stepping into another world — a mix of history, mystery, and the eerie feeling that life had simply stopped there.
