John Erb, my maternal grandmother's brother-in-law, was an accomplished guitarist who made an extensive catalog of 4-track tape recordings. In 2002, shortly after his passing, these recordings were compiled onto CDs, which were shared with friends and relatives in his memory

in 2015, I rediscovered the CD - gorgeous instrumental arrangements of hymns and gospel songs, but interspersed among them were 8 tracks titled only "Instrumental" - I don't know if they were songs that the person compiling the CD didn't recognize, or if they were his own untitled compositions, or a mix of both

this tune was the fifth such untitled instrumental, and it happened to get stuck in my head for long enough that I had to arrange it

back in December 2021, shortly before the sad and acrimonious dissolution of Neitherworld -- home base of QD and The Skirts from fall '20 thru spring '22, and 10 year veteran of the Allston/Brighton house show scene -- we did something REAL neat, a taping with a small "studio audience," rather than a whole show, for the sake of COVID safety. it was a blast to participate in, and I hadn't realized til very recently that it had been released on our videographer's personal channel!
