Monologue - Ada and the Engine - Lord Byron 03/15/2026

I recorded this at home after one of the performances. The costume is my own, but the hair and makeup are from the show.

It's also an opportunity to ask you if you have a favorite monologue from my YouTube channel.

Please let me know in the comments.

Up next, I take the lead again, this time with my second show at TCAN Players in a production of Rope.

It's the perfect, flawless plan.

Come see Burlington Players Park Playhouse Ada and the Engine tonight and/or tomorrow at 8pm and/or Sunday at 2pm.

The first weekend might have been the first time I've been in a show with three consecutive standing ovations.

This year started out from the fallout of one particularly fruitful week in August 2024. I auditioned for four shows, got cast in three, had to lose one to COVID, and did one of them in December 2024. That meant that the spring started with the last of those shows, The Psych Drama Company's Stage Kiss. I was batting .750 at play auditions in just that one week (stretching out my theatre auditions backward to reflect all of 2024 would bust me down to the metaphorical minors).

This year, I auditioned for five plays and got cast in three (so...batting .600, not bad), with the auditions spread out a bit more. There were even more I was interested in auditioning for, but they would have conflicted with each other. Two of the auditions were during the run for Stage Kiss and, of those, I got to play in TCAN Players' And Then There Were None, which won an EMACT DASH Award for its hair and makeup, and one of my castmates was nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

I deliberately took the summer off, but before a trip to the UK (which I scheduled before realizing it conflicted with the DASH Awards--I'll try not to make the same mistake next year), I auditioned for The Cannon Theatre's Wait Until Dark, largely because I loved the 1967 movie. It's the second longest distance I've traveled to perform in a play, after 2017's Cape Ann Theatre Collaborative's Studs Terkel's American Century, performed in Gloucester. That said, I did also do a staged reading in Woods Hole, but there wasn't a schedule of rehearsals at that venue requiring repeated commutes that far. The past year-and-a-half has had me considering how far my radius can be.

I also got to contribute an illustration in the style of Quentin Blake (shown below, it had to be in the style of Quentin Blake, but also sync up to the final shot) to Aaron Barrocas' horror comedy short Bart & Bobbi Kill Each Other, which made the rounds at festivals throughout the year. So, if you've seen this page tagged throughout the year, you can thank him and that film!

I've also gotten opportunities to work on similarly-sized projects, but I can't announce those, just yet.

I can say that season two of The Madmen's Guild was released through The Post-Meridian Radio Players, which saw me playing more characters than last year. Stay tuned for season three next year, and more adventures in coming years.

Maybe the biggest change this year is that I decided to start a promotional website. Facebook is still the primary source of news (I've embedded this page into the top of the Home page of the website), but the website is a good place to get a more evergreen survey of my career as an artist throughout the decades. The top and bottom of the page is in the screencap below, and the address is https://ericcheungartist.com.

Peruse the Bio section to see the story of how I went from one artistic medium to the next. Check out the Resume for the most comprehensive look at my career. Look at Press to see reviews, profiles, and even stuff I've written for publications. And then there's the Home page, which has some samples of my work from throughout the years.

I may add more pages to it in the future, but that should keep you busy for a while.
