The Alpha Alpha Rho chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was chartered on the campus of Appalachian State University on May 1, 1992. Charles Stephens (Chuck) urged the state office to allow a charter be enacted upon Appalachians campus. It is with great joy that we would like to celebrate our brother TJ Sanders on earning his posthumous degree from Appalachian State University on May 9th, 2025. Brother Sanders has earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art. Joined in celebrating his accomplishment was his family, friends, professors and colleagues.
Brother Sanders is deeply missed by the brothers of the Alpha Alpha Rho Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, his family, friends, and the Appalachian State University community.
We are so proud of all that he was able to accomplish and all those whose lives he has impacted for the better.
Rest in Omega, Brother. 🕊️💙

Over the course of the past week, people around the world have witnessed the uprisings that are a direct response to ongoing racism, bigotry, and violence against the African American community. The senseless murders of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arberry, and most recently, George Floyd have sparked a week of global outrage and civil unrest.
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and the NAACP, are calling on the United Nations to classify the systematic mistreatment of African Americans as a human rights violation.
