Pet therapy? We've got it!

Meet Kirby, an 11 year-old labradoodle and certified therapy dog for patients at our Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

You can catch him walking the halls with his handler Diana, where he always brings a smile and welcomes an ear scratch.

In his off time, Kirby enjoys long walks and rides in the car, windows down and wind blowing in his ears.

If diets and weight loss programs aren’t providing lasting results, it may be time to see if weight loss surgery is right for you.

Mark your calendars and join us Wednesday, July 9 in Nampa for a bariatric seminar where you will hear from our experts as they explore the risks associated with obesity and what surgical options are available.

You also will have the chance to meet patients who have gone through our program and get answers to your questions.

How can we measure kindness?

Last month, our nurses, CNAs, MAs and care teams found a unique way.

The Kindness Chain Competition was a simple yet powerful way to represent the everyday acts of grace that often go unnoticed.

Clinical Nurse Educator Rebecca Burnstein, in collaboration with our nursing leadership, brought forward the idea to “sprinkle kindness” throughout the health system.

Each time a colleague witnessed an act of kindness, they wrote it on a paper strip and added it to their unit’s chain.

What began with 15,000 strips – thanks to a local Girl Scouts troop – grew into over 23,00 links of kindness, encouragement, and compassion.

Take a look back at this beautiful new tradition.

And to keep the spirit of the kindness chain alive, tag someone in the comments who you’ve witnessed doing an everyday act of grace now.
