By buying a loaf of delicious, homemade bread through Bread For Life, you are providing food, water, shelter, clothes and education for helpless children - all in the saving name of JESUS! ffective means to MOBILIZE THE CHURCH in fulfilling what is perhaps the most important of commands: “To look after orphans...in their distress” (James 1:27).

100% of all money raised goes directly to the needs of these lonely, vulnerable and precious children.

'Bread For Life’ is the Lord’s ministry. I offered Him the one talent that I was confident I had (baking pumpkin bread) and, because of His unfathomable love for the orphan, He has done the rest. In short, ‘Bread For Life’ has raised over $10,000 is less than 10 months! Or is it? BFL was conceived in December of 2011 when I learned that most orphans do not have daily meals, have no safe place to lay their head., and have nobody to hold them and tell them they are loved. They are abused, abandoned and often left to die. My heart bleeds for these children daily. There is a never-ending cry in my heart to love these children, whatever that may look like. After much prayer and seeking the Lord, I kept asking, “What can I do?” Then the idea came to mind, “Well, everyone tells me I bake good Pumpkin Bread” (all credit goes to my mother! It’s her recipe) “I could bake bread and sell it.”

From that moment on, that is what I set out to do and sure enough, people loved the bread. Most of all, however, they loved the cause! Once made aware of the urgent needs of children worldwide, they were eager to help in anyway possible. This is why my heart becomes overwhelmed with hope, gratitude and thanksgiving. Because WE have made a difference for so many lives, already. It hasn't even been 1 year and lives have been radically changed forever!! Because this is God’s ministry! This is His heart. We get the privilege to be His hands and His feet and through that He blesses us with unspeakable joy. Isn't that the coolest thing ever? I think so!

African Hearts Community Organization has been faithfully serving orphaned and vulnerable children in Uganda since 2001. Through safe housing, education, healthcare, discipleship, and community outreach, they are bringing hope to children who need it most.

In 2016, during a mission trip to Uganda, what felt like a “delay” in bakery construction turned into a divine appointment. ❤️
While working from the African Hearts office, a young woman named Diana walked in — shy, emotional, and searching for hope. After years of surviving life in the slums and carrying deep pain, Diana had recently given her life to Jesus and simply said, “I want to work with my hands.”
That day, she became the new Bakery Manager at African Hearts. 🍞✨
This is why Bread For Life exists. The bakery was never just about bread — it was about restoration, dignity, second chances, and creating opportunities for women and girls to build a new future for themselves and their families.
God was working in the middle of the “delays,” reminding us that His timing is always perfect. Diana was an answer to our prayers… and the bakery became an answer to hers.

We are building more than bakeries in Uganda… we’re building hope, opportunity, and lasting change. 🍞❤️

What started with baking bread over an open flame during a mission trip has grown into multiple bakeries that now help feed children, create jobs, empower women, and support vulnerable families throughout local communities. Each bakery becomes a place where practical needs are met, skills are taught, and the love of Jesus is shared daily.

From providing breakfast for children to creating sustainable income for families, every loaf represents dignity, restoration, and hope for the future.

At Bread For Life, Uganda is not just a place we serve — it’s family. ❤️🇺🇬

Over the years, God has woven deep relationships between our team and the incredible men, women, and children of Uganda. What began as mission trips and simple acts of service has grown into lasting partnerships built on love, trust, faith, and community.

We’ve shared meals together, worshipped together, celebrated victories together, and stood alongside one another through hardships. Through bakeries, sponsorships, clean water projects, outreach programs, and everyday moments, we’ve witnessed the strength, joy, resilience, and unwavering faith of the Ugandan people continually inspire us.

Bread For Life exists not only to meet urgent needs, but to walk hand-in-hand with communities — empowering, encouraging, and loving people the way Christ calls us to. The relationships we’ve built in Uganda have forever changed our hearts, and we are grateful to continue growing alongside such beautiful communities.
