Since April is national volunteer month I’d like to share two of my favorite most memorable volunteer experiences. My name is Angela, and I had the pleasure of joining Dr. Phillips kids dentist the fall of 2024. Previously, I had worked for a pediatric practice in Washington state for 29 years. With that practice, we used to attend an event called “Children’s Dental Health Day”. I love going and volunteering, working with the communities under privileged children, providing needed dental care. Seeing their smiles when we finished was heartwarming. One of my former bosses used to call that day our “Dental Olympics day” My other life-changing volunteer experience was traveling halfway around the world to the Marshall Islands. We provided dental care for two weeks to school-age children. It was a humbling, eye-opening experience. Many had very few teeth left due to severe decay, lack of dental care, and pour diet. To say the least, our first world problems are more inconveniences compared to what they experience daily. I am so blessed to live here in the USA volunteering allowed me to have the experience of “walking in someone else’s shoes.”

Megan, a dental hygienist with a B.S. in Dental Hygiene from Eastern Washington University, has gained diverse experience working across five states over the past 10 years. She is dedicated to creating positive dental experiences for children and is especially passionate about preventive care. Outside of work, Megan enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two boys. Her hobbies include baking, yoga, gardening, hiking, and all things active and outdoors. We are so fortunate to have Megan be a part of our family here at Dr. Alexis Phillips Kids Dentist! 💕
