What I Wish I Knew Before My First Cruise

▶ Not everything is included. Specialty dining, drinks, WiFi, gratuities, and excursions may cost extra depending on the cruise line.

▶ Your room might not be ready right away. Embarkation day can feel chaotic for a couple of hours. Pack a swimsuit or essentials in your carry-on if you want to start enjoying the ship immediately.

▶ Not all cruise ships have the same vibe. Some are quiet and luxurious. Some are party-focused. Some are family-heavy. Picking the right ship matters.

▶ Excursions are often worth it. Especially in destinations where transportation or logistics are complicated.

▶ Cabins are smaller than you think. Guests are often surprised to find out that their cabins are much smaller than a hotel room. Pack light and talk to your travel advisor about their favorite cabin hacks.

▶ Cruising makes multi-destination travel ridiculously easy. Unpack once. Wake up somewhere new almost every day.

▶ A good cabin location matters more than most people realize. Make sure to book a cabin that is surrounded by other cabins (above and below too). If you are worried about motion sickness, I recommend mid-ship on a lower deck.
