Not a bad days worth of work. This built in medicine cabinet will replace itβs old particleboard cousin in a clientβs house that happens to be a stoneβs throw from my house and shop! So handy to work in my own back yard for a customer right in my neighborhood!

Everything is fit to size, sanded to 120 and roughly assembled. Turns out thereβs not a single metal fastener in this thing thanks to the domino πͺπΌ mortise and loose tenon joinery for the win!

Tomorrow Iβll run through the rest of the grits sanding to 320 then itβll be time! Busting out the for the high moisture levels in the bathroom

Itβs hard to imagine a better combo than my trusty Desktop Max and πͺπΌ I canβt tell you the amount of time and money Iβve saved on messing with fancy clamping and hold down systems by just using the blue painters tape and CA Glue method! So slick!

Iteration - The mother of Invention!
Iβve been messing around with some leather ideas recently and I finally landed on a design I like. It was all about the details and I couldnβt fully realize all of them until I had a prototype in my hands. Iβve been carrying the final version for about a week now and itβs damn near perfect! I need a to slips in the pen loop! π πͺπΌππΌ

Are you still fat fi*****ng your finest bit balancing your router on your workbench using the base as a makeshift router table doing your best to keep your fingers from being consumed by the carbide bit spinning at 12,000 rpm? π€·π»ββοΈ Believe me Iβve been there! Done that! and itβs only a matter of time until you end up munching your fingers in the bit or even worse! (sadly Iβve been there and done that too! π). Stop your router ridiculousness and get yourself a table son! This one will do just fine. Iβve had it in my shop for several months now and pound per pound dollars to donuts this is a solid option! It comes with a pair of featherboards, decent dust collection (for a router table) and my favorite feature - above the table bit height adjustment! All this at under $150 (I actually just checked and you can snag one right now from for $139!) Thatβs a steal!

Manufacturing is Dead?
Manufacturing here in the U.S. has been on a steady decline for a number of years. The βGlory Daysβ of the 1920βs and 30βs more than 20% of US workforce held manufacturing jobs. Today that number has fallen to below 8%.
π§°
Change is Happening!
Thanks to things like increased consumer awareness, demand for U.S. made products, automation, and the ability to cut out the middle man we are seeing signs of an increase in manufacturing. It may be small but itβs changing!
π§°
Whatβs Causing Change?
I believe this change is due at least in some small part to the passion and drive of the maker community and our ability to design, produce, market and sell products out of our garage!
π§°
The Maker Economy
The onset of COVID brought mask shortages to an unprepared supply chain. Factories struggled to produce enough supply to keep up with the massive demand. In response to this crisis Makers sprang to action and 1000βs of 3D printers were put to work printing and assembling face shields, countless sewing machines were put to work sewing masks and we even saw new DIY ventilator designs being created! Makers responded in full force and as a result we saw new shortages appear. Elastic banding, clear transparency films and other mask and face shield βingredientsβ sold out or were very hard to come by. The Maker Economy showed its face and it awakened the world to our ability to mass produce much needed products quickly.

Letβs Keep It Going!
Several months back I was contacted by .com_ to be part of their βThe Makersβ video series highlighting Makers in our community and allowing them to tell their story. I was blown away that they would even consider me and I am incredibly humbled to be a part of the first season. I had seen the videos on and and I was thrilled by the thought of having a video shot in my shop.
