I've been sick for almost a week with a nasty upper respiratory virus. Bummer. But while coughing and hacking my way through day and night, I still manage to catch some photos and videos. Here's one with Boo on the arm of my chair and Em-Dash trying to convince her to come down and play. (It didn't work this time.)

Another dose of cuteness. A sleeping baby is always sweet.

I was gobsmacked last night when I learned that I have three finalist books in this year's Carol Awards. Bible and a .44 (a novella in the From This Moment On collection) is a finalist in the Novella Category. To Capture a Mountain Man and To Reveal a Reckless Love are both finalists in the Short Novel category. I still can hardly believe it.

My friend, Kimberly Keagan, has a new book releasing today.

A bluestocking heiress. The second son of a duke. And a medieval mystery that might school them both in love.

Rule-breaking American heiress Beatrice Dennison discovers a rare book in her uncle’s library, and promptly enlists buttoned-up Cambridge academic Lord Henry Tisdale to help translate it. But the centuries‑old text holds more than history—it draws them into long days in the library, whispered discoveries, and a partnership neither expected.

As they work side by side, Tris and Harry must face meddling family, academic rivals, and an attraction that threatens everything they’ve built on opposite sides of the Atlantic. When the truth about the manuscript forces a choice, they must decide whether to cling to their carefully ordered lives—or risk everything for a once‑in‑a‑lifetime love.

Schooled in Love is perfect for fans of:

· across the pond romance
· a smart and feisty heroine
· a studious hero
· faith
· mystery

So I had to go to the hospital for a test, and while I sat in the waiting area, I checked the puppy cam to see how Em-Dash was doing. I only recorded a little of her zoomies and her efforts to tear apart her playpen. The little raccoon is definitely getting the worst of it here. Other patients must have thought me nuts. Most people at the hospital don't look so happy and laugh so much. (When I was watching, I zoomed the camera in, but it doesn't record that way.) See if it doesn't make you smile too.

About nine years ago, before Boo came to live with me, I bought a big fluffy stuffed dog to make her feel like she had a mama with her. It even had something to warm that fit in her belly. Boo never paid any attention to it at all.

But Em-Dash loves it. Whenever in her playpen, this is how she sleeps on it.

Em-Dash had a good night in the crate. I took her to potty at 11 and again at 3. Otherwise she slept with just a whimper or two before she settled. Her crate was on the bed with me so she could see me and I could touch her through the bars.

I had to get a # # # Small (triple X) harness, and even that is a little big on her. She has no collar yet because the smallest I've found is still too big. When she went to the vet, I found out why. She only weighs 1.9 pounds! So tiny. (Boo was 3.5 at the same age.) Dash has an infection and got a dose of antibiotics in addition to her immunizations. Her little yelps as she got those shots. Ohhhhhhh.
