Big congratulations to Ron Schmaltz on earning his Master of Public Health degree! Ron has been a valued member of Health Services for over a decade, serving as our dedicated Health Information Systems Administrator and HIPAA Security Officer. Known as our “Swiss Army knife” for the many skills he brings to the team, Ron continues to go above and beyond. We celebrated this incredible achievement with a surprise fish-themed party—honoring both his hard work and his favorite pastime: fishing! 🎣 Here's to reeling in success, both professionally and on the water!

McKenzie Western is graduating from Boise State University with a Master of Business Administration (MBA). After graduation, she plans to enjoy some well-deserved free time and continue growing in her role as Director of Wellness Services. McKenzie's favorite part of working at Wellness Services has been leading the incredible team of twenty-two, which has truly been the highlight of her work! She's found it rewarding to watch the program evolve and expand, and she's excited about the impact the team will continue to make together!

Laci Whipple is graduating from Boise State University with a Master of Arts in Counseling, specializing in addiction. After graduation, she plans to get licensed as a professional counselor (LPC) and continue practicing at Treasure Valley Therapy LLC, specializing in eating disorders and men's issues. She'll also be teaching as an adjunct professor in the Psychology and Kinesiology departments at Boise State. Laci's favorite part of working at Wellness Services has been planning and leading Body Acceptance Week over the past two years, as well as creating our first one-credit body image course, BRNCOFIT 294!

Ruby Wick is graduating from Boise State University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. After graduation, she plans to take a gap year to work in the medical field and apply to physical therapy school. Ruby’s favorite part of working with Wellness Services has been the friendships she’s made throughout her three years as a Peer Health Educator!

Macy Kliewer is graduating from Boise State University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies, with a Medical and Healthcare Science Emphasis. After graduation, she plans to work toward gaining patient-service hours as an optometric technician and apply to optometry school. Macy’s favorite part of working at Wellness Services has been being a part of the Mental Health and Life Skills subcommittee for two years, assisting with Here For You Fest, and taking part in Mental Health Screening Days to promote mental health awareness and help Boise State students feel supported on campus!

Katie Miller is graduating from Boise State University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, with a certificate in Leadership and Human Resources. After graduation, she plans to stay in Boise and work toward earning her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). Katie’s favorite part of working at Wellness Services has been the positive work environment and supportive culture, doing work she was passionate about and aligned with her educational goals, and building lasting friendships and support systems she’ll continue to cherish!
