As part of Lab Week 2025 at our Nampa Hospital, we put our lab crew’s creativity to the test with a decorated lab coat contest, and they did not disappoint.

From glitter to googly eyes, every entry was packed with science, heart, and a whole lot of personality. This year’s theme was “It’s About Science, Passion…Results in Action!” was really brought that to life.

Huge shoutout to Brandy Navarrete for taking home the top spot! You rocked it!

And to all our lab professionals - thank you for the passion and precision you bring to patient care every day!

At Saint Alphonsus, we are honored to work alongside compassionate and dedicated healthcare professionals like Abbey, RN. With over 8 years of experience, Abbey has worn many hats—serving as an Area Practice Manager, leading COVID testing sites, and now thriving as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department for the past 14 months.

Why Saint Alphonsus?
“I chose to work at Saint Alphonsus because of its strong reputation for compassionate, patient-centered care and its commitment to the community. The focus on innovation and excellence, along with the opportunities for growth, continue to inspire me every day. There is a genuine sense of compassion, collaboration, and dedication here. Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do, and it’s amazing to be part of an organization that values its employees as much as its patients. Saint Alphonsus that this is more than just a job—it’s a mission-driven community where you’re supported, encouraged, and empowered to grow.”

A moment that made her love what she does: “I cared for a young patient in the ER who was frightened about a medical condition. Weeks later, she returned with a handmade bracelet for me, thanking me for my care and compassion. That moment reminded me why I love being a nurse—making a difference in someone's life, both physically and emotionally.”

Outside of work, Abbey stays just as busy! She loves spending time with her husband and three kids, cheering on college football, catching up with friends, and traveling whenever she can. Abbey, your dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to your patients and our community are truly inspiring. We are so grateful to have you on our team—thank you for all you do!

Exciting milestone at Saint Alphonsus!

We’re thrilled to announce the first case completed with the Altea MR System at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center – Ontario!

This cutting-edge MRI technology will enhance patient care for Ontario and surrounding communities through:

Enhanced Comfort: A larger-diameter bore, and shorter system length create a spacious, open environment—perfect for those who experience claustrophobia or anxiety.
Improved Safety: The undocking patient table minimizes transfers, reducing the risk of falls and ensuring safety for patients with limited mobility.
Precision Imaging: AI-powered technologies deliver clearer, faster scans with high image resolution, improving diagnostic accuracy.
Patient-Centered Design: The calming mural ceiling and soothing room aesthetics ensure a more relaxing imaging experience.

“The Altea MR system is a true game-changer, offering both advanced technology and a commitment to patient comfort and safety,” said Jamie Dotson, Eastern Oregon Medical Imaging Manager.

We’re excited to see the incredible impact this will have on our community’s healthcare!

Today, we mourn the loss of a transformational faith leader, His Holiness Pope Francis, whose legacy will continue to inspire Catholics and non-Catholics for generations. Pope Francis showed us what servant leadership truly looks like.

His life and legacy are an inspiration to our Mission of caring for others with love, dignity and justice.

Warmer weather brings more time outdoors, and more chances for slips, trips and falls.

Dr. Loren Black sat down with KTVB to discuss the best ways to prevent injuries from incorporating weight bearing exercises to keeping an eye out for everyday items that can cause series injuries.

Spoiler – those pet toys that get left out at night are one of them.
