TransVirginia Bike Route The TransVirginia Bike Route is a 565-mile mostly-unpaved backcountry cycling route that traverses the state of Virginia from Washington, DC to Damascus, VA....

And most important: if you’re doing the Valley Route what are you going to get at the Stokesville store?

The Mountain Whitetail Photo Workshop was perfect. Lots of rutting action and lots of big buck sightings. The landscape was the real star however.
Loudoun Now Wild whitetails during the rut in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Excited to be headed out for the next 4 days running a whitetail photo workshop. Camping at a remote 4000 foot campsite with nothing but good people, cameras and cast iron cooking.

Crappy photo but we are seeing northern lights tonight in Bluemont.

Dawn getting some love after the USAC Mountain Bike National Championships in Snowshoe West Virginia 2017.

What a cool vintage Cannondale CAAD 5 from 2002. We did a full service on this beauty to bring her back to life. Shortly after 9/11, five firemen from NYC went on a goodwill bike run from NYC to Los Angeles. Cannondale donated custom bikes for this trip. They were CAAD5 with upgraded parts and a very custom "stars and strips" paint job. In 2002 Cannondale decided to make a limited production run to sell them to the public.
There is a lot of debate about the collectability of this bike. Some people will just say it's a 2002 CAAD5 and there is nothing special about it. Others will say it's great example of a early CAAD5 with a little bit of interesting history." Either way it's a really cool bicycle built in the U.S. with a full Shimano dura ace groupset.

Summer is closing out lets hope it rains a lot over the next few weeks. (Click photo for a gallery)

Happy summer solstice 2024.

We get a ton of cool bikes in for repair but sometimes one comes through that is truly special. Photographed here is a Serotta Colorado 54cm, with Campagnolo Chorus 9-speed group and Flight saddle guaranteed to castrate young riders all across the lower 48!!
There are so many great bicycle frame builders in America its impossible to say who is the best. If we could pick one it would be Ben Serotta. His contribution to America bicycle racing has had the biggest impact and opened the gateway for American riders racing in Europe in the biggest races. (Photo included from our shop wall collection of Davis Phinney on his 7-Eleven Huffy. Phinney won 328 races in the 1980s and 1990s, a record for an American, including two Tour de France stages. All were onboard a Serotta frame set.
Serotta built frames for the Coors, Crest and 7-Eleven pro teams, although Team 7-Eleven bikes were branded as Murray and later Huffy. Serotta also built bikes for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Serotta was known in the industry for its proprietary tube designs and revolutionary titanium bicycle building.
Serotta sold the company in 1989 to Archibald Cox Jr., son of Watergate special prosecutor Archibald Cox Jr. Cox later purchased Fat City Cycles and merged it with Serotta in response to growing interest in mountain biking. In 1997, Ben Serotta and his wife Marcie bought the company back from Cox.

The last photo workshop was today for Ravens Rock Outdoors. We may do more in the fall before deer season starts. Stay tuned, click link for slideshow.
