We’ve journeyed through the phases of Posttraumatic Growth and arrived at the fifth and final phase — Service.
This is where our story turns outward. By making sense of what we’ve endured and finding the courage to share our experiences, we not only chart our own path forward but help others do the same. It’s how we struggle well together.
Many of us know firsthand what it means to be carried by the strength and kindness of others during our hardest moments. That’s why it matters so deeply to give back — to use our journeys, lessons, and strengths, to lift up those walking their own difficult roads.

This is your life. This is your story.
You learn. You grow. You change. You overcome. You care. You serve. You dare. You befriend. You give.
Pick up your pen. Choose growth. Struggle well.
Write the next chapter. This story far from over.

For the third year in a row, HIMSS National Capital Area Chapter selected Boulder Crest Foundation as one of the beneficiaries of their annual golf tournament at the Army Navy Country Club.
We are deeply grateful for HIMSS’s continued generosity and unwavering support of our mission to improve the wellbeing of our nation’s Veterans, first responders, and their families.
Thank you to all the golfers who braved the rain and showed up with heart. Your support makes a lasting difference in the lives of our nation's heroes.
Mindful Monday ---
We don't heal in isolation. We heal and grow in community.
Reaching out, talking to someone, connecting with others...that's not weakness, that's how growth happens.

Thought for the weekend:
You are the author of your life.
Every day, we have a choice about what we focus on. When we fill our world with the language of courage, hope, and Posttraumatic Growth, our story begins to reflect those truths. By embracing PTG, leaning into balanced, honest thinking, and surrounding ourselves with people and ideas that lift us up, we tap into the strength to shape our own story.
Struggle is a chapter — not the whole book. Growth is always possible. And the story of your life is still being written – by you.

We are not what happened to us. We are not our mistakes. We are not a diagnosis. We will not be diminished.
We are the authors of our own stories, and we will choose how we live them. We Choose Growth.
This is how we do that...
https://bouldercrest.org/resources/ptg-phases-story/

You are unrepeatable. Your voice, your story, your impact—only you can bring them to life. We don’t get to choose everything that happens to us, but we do get to choose how we show up. Our last great freedom is how we respond to what life hands us. We’ve all had moments that brought us to our knees. But what happens when we stay down? When fear of the unknown keeps us silent? When pain convinces us we have nothing left to give?
Here’s the truth: if you don’t engage — if you stay down — you leave a you-shaped hole in the world. One no one else can fill. There is a purpose only you can fulfill. A story only you can tell. A ripple effect only you can set in motion.
So today, wherever you are in your journey, don’t stay down. Stand up. Lean in. CHOOSE GROWTH. Choose to speak. The world needs your voice—raw, real, and rising.

June 13th is National Posttraumatic Growth Day. It’s part of National PTSD Awareness Month and was initiated by the Boulder Crest Foundation to recognize that veterans and others impacted by trauma can experience profound positive growth and transformation. Together, let’s shift the focus beyond the struggle that trauma causes to acknowledge the strength and resilience that can be found in the journey of healing.

In honor of National Posttraumatic Growth Day, we are thrilled to announce the winners of Hero’s Journey: The Posttraumatic Growth Story Challenge.
In a time when mental health challenges, su***de, and isolation are on the rise, Posttraumatic Growth offers a new perspective - one that acknowledges that while trauma is real and devastating, it does not define us - we remain the authors of our own stories.
The response to this contest was extraordinary - these stories moved us, challenged us, and reaffirmed what we know to be true - that even in the aftermath of trauma, we can grow stronger, wiser, and more connected.
Join us in celebrating these winners and every storyteller who shared a piece of themselves. The winning films are available to watch at the link in bio, and watch this space for more stories and conversations about the power of Posttraumatic Growth.
Together, by sharing stories of courage, triumph and growth, we can help shift the conversation from “what’s broken” to what’s possible.
